Perhaps it might be a good idea to say " hey Pa, check out what the guru's on here say" might change his mind.

Hornet's look like such nice bikes. Great taste you have. Very aesthetically pleasing.

They sound really good I have to say.
Bill at motorcyclesonline started one up, and it had the Growl of my Kirker "loudened" CBR....
He took off and it sounded like he was doing 100mph by the end of the street... only to be doing 50!
Really nice sound, and not at all annoying.

Hornet 250's are awesome! I've only had mine for 12 months but have had so much fun on it. It's a 2003 in black with gold wheels, purchased from Wellington Motorcycles. Not sure what selection they have now, but when i went down to visit them they had 4 available from 2003 to 2008 models! Good luck finding one.

    Hi there!,

Having only completed my licence two weeks ago, I'm fairly new to the world of bikes! The two bikes i do have on my hunting list are the VTR 250, and Hornet 250.

I'm just curious to know what you'd consider high mileage for these bikes. Are they both a safe choice at the higher mileage end of the spectrum? Ideally i'd like to spend under $4k, although I'm now thinking that this is unlikely.

    Kind regards,
    Simon

    Getta hornet!
Mine might be on sale too if your looking for a cheapish one as my full is coming up.

Quite possibly the best 250's around and look awesome too!

I'm initially constantly embarrassed to ride my lil' ol'hornet because it makes so much noise, and it's not that thump-thump-thump noise typically associated with motorbikes by the general public. I've got a middle-aged lady neighbour drop by and suggest I take riding lessons to understand how to ride my bike better... which I did, and realised there's nothing wrong with my riding. It's just the way the bike sounds.

I love riding the bike thru a tunnel tho'

Ah hah ahahah ... on Target yesterday with the article on buying chew fiddies, they had a nice lil'ol'hornet up for the inspection ... funny how they never mentioned them in the list of chew fiddies that people could buy

Mmmmm just got new Diablos for my lil'ol'hornet, he's happy and it's the bee's knees for him

Might be a good idea to go find another $1500 coz I can't see anyone parting with a post 2000 hornet with less than 30,000km on it for less than $7,500.

I have seen 1996 ones with 60,000 on them go for $5,500-$6,500.

Or you could get a 250 that is currently being sold NZ new like the Kwak Ninja 250 or the VTR250.

It's all very well being fussy but it could mean 6 months or more before you get your bike.

    Best of luck.
