Up real early and headed off to work. Weather looked like it was going to be a cracker of a day so thought best to get work out the way as wuickly as possible and get to the track. After working (read slaving) was complete I came home and grabbed the bike and headed to Feilding.
Sign in wasnt till 830am and it was a little after 7.30am so I thought I would have plenty of time only to get there and find about 100 bikes already there! All the stalls were already taken so I parked up and text 86 to see if he had finished his latte yet.
Stood at the front of the cue and was told that sign in would still not start till 830 so fair enough and chatted for a bit till the organisers got sorted and to be fair, they did a fantastic job considering how swamped they were.
Scruiteeneering was a little tough with complaints about my brakes and throttle. Its a kwaka. Its not surposed to have good brakes! But yes, they do work. Passed anyhow and headed to join gsvr to pretend to be his pit bitch for the day.
Decided to stick to the medium group for the day to work on some corner speeds without the presure of the fast group. Groups were a little crowded and got swamped in the first session. Working on the hairpin and toyota to try and get round them without freaking out and jumping on the brakes.
Session 2 went a little better and got some clear track for a little while. Matched my PB time of 1.30 but didnt feel like it was a very good run.
Session 3 86 and I got together and decided not to wait to try and get clear track and just run out however it turns out. This turned out to be a great idea as ended up in a line of traffic that were all doing about the same speeds. Lots of fun and 86 did his make cowboyz look bad trick.
Session 4 86 and I had seperate stopwatches on us to see what we could pull out of the bag. This session was the best I have ever had, ever. Got out in front and the lead rider seemed to disappear. Not really sure what happened to him TBH but clear track and bike felt fantastic. 86 managed to pass me somewhere along the line and towed me round the track in some really close non-racing (cause it was not a raceday). It was mint. Just sublime when you get to ride close to someone you can trust and have a good go. I got on the inside on a few corners but couldnt get the drive out to get past. Big ups to 86 for holding his lines and not giving it away. Stopwatch read a 1.25 on one of the laps and circulating in 1.27s which I am stoked with. Felt really solid and didnt feel at any time that I was pushing it into scary zone.
Thanks to central districts for another fantastic day and to 86gsxr for some exciting laps.
