    I must be getting old

After having a bike with a standard can on it, I'm thinking of changing my Micron race can to a road legal version. They have a removable baffle that lifts the noise level but not as loud as the race models.
I'm really getting sick of the popping and banging and generally anti-social noise.

More likely you're suffering from a cute earring.

Lou, that is a different approach from a few on here! I'm sure that some nice person will take your old can off your hands...

The popping and banging may have something to do with 30 missing HP. Check the exhaust junctions are sealing. It will pop and bang if air is let in on the overrun.

The SV/yoshi did a lot of popping and sometimes really load banging and it was starting to get on my nerves. There's a difference between a nice rumble and inconsistent irritating noise.

No, it's normal with race cans. The system is fine.

I'm with yer there Lou. First thing I was to do when getting the new Bus was to put some pipes on it as I allways have done in the past. Havn't got around to it, for various reasons and am now enjoying a quiet bike. Still has a nice induction rumble down there that I like and I guess I don't really need any more HP.

that's what happens when you put new batteries in your hearing aid Lou.

wait til they are half drained again and you'll be fine.

I've talked to one of our techs about it and there's no significant difference in power output between race and street cans on a standard exhaust system.
For that matter, there was only 1hp difference between having the baffle in or removed.
It sounds like I'm talking myself into it.

Just take off the can and remove the thirty dead horses. It'll be fine again.

First you lose 30hp and now your complaining it's making to much noise too!

You might want to cut back on those bake beans there Lou, they're probably the cause of your general anti-social noise!

But tell you what Lou, want to swap Suzuki's with no cash difference?
Mine hasn't lost any power, hasn't been dropped etc, and definitely doesn't make any popping, banging or farting noises. You might get lucky and even find your missing 30hp which so far has eluded all reasonable attempts of ours to find it hiding within my FXR engine.
90% of the time spent writing this post was spent thinking of something witty to say. It may have been wasted.

Does the PAIR system contribute to popping on overrun on Bandits? It seems to me that injecting air into the exhaust should have a similar effect to a gasket leak?

Anyhow, I tend to agree about the noise level, the SuperTrapp on my SRX is really too noisy for commuter use in general and too loud for my right ear for comfort as I don't wear earplugs when commuting at urban speeds.
