    Thumbs up Misdemeanor

Heard of a local plod catching 2 locals relieving themselves in a shop doorway last weekend. He gave them 2 options: a night in the slammer or remove their shirts and clean it up. After protests of the price of their shirts the options were repeated. Shortly afterwards 2 lads were seen walking away carrying their shirts.

I've had a little daydream of being knocked off the bike by a stupid careless driver and then getting up off the tarmac and bashing the person who knocked me off the bike in the face with my carbon knuckled gloves.

Good story even if it wasn't you.

Just standard riding is a hazard these days. Riding through town yesterday - one woman pulls out from a park to my left and another from the right hand lane! Just as well I saw it coming coz they smacked into each other. And I thanked my lucky stars...
They shall not grow old as we that are left grow old.
Age shall not weary them nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the evening,
    we will remember them

Situation - Riding to work today and as I approach the one round-about on my journey, I slow and approach with caution.

Caution? - I do this because this (and indeed most) round-abouts rely on the driver / rider to actually engage their brain in first gear and think about that give way rule. They don't have to rely on a set of lights to tell them what to do, so they actually should think about what they are doing.

The approach - As I am heading to the round-about, I check no cars entering or approaching to my right so I am clear. A quick glance to the left and I see a BMW X5 urban assault vehicle, complete with (sorry ladies) a female driver at the helm. I am close enough to see that her brief, and boy do I mean brief, glance towards my approach has not yeilded her actually seeing me. I can only judge this because by now she hasn't begun to slow down.

The entry - Now I am not dumb. I know I haven't been seen and am not planning on becoming a hood ornament. I adjust my speed enough so I could arrive in roughly the same spot on the round-about as she does as she enters the round-about, and obviously slow and apply a fair quantity of horn (the one atached to the bike that is) to garnish her attention.

The result - Yes, there was the initial shock upon her face. However that quickly transferred to my face as she proceeded to give me a middle finger salute as she proceeded on her merry way.

However - Her personlised rego number was very easy to remember the short distance to work.

The investigation - Suffice to say it was quickly discovered that she lived locally

The visit - I knock on the front door some 2 hours later and politely inform her that I was there investigating a traffic incident from earlier that day and ask a few questions about the matter. The kicker was when she said "That motorbike rider has got no proof it happened, you can't do anything about it. Even if I did do it, who cares, no one got hurt."

The outcome - It was at about that point that the dreaded yellow piece of paper was completed and handed over to her as her verbal tirade continued. It wasn't until the very end after many threats of court appearances and "I'll have your job" and the like did I inform her that it was I that was on that motorbike.

    One recorded conversation - free
Failing to give way when entering a roundabout - $105 and 3 points
Look on her face - Priceless

    Motorbikes 1 - Cars 0. That's one for us......."
    bling on it's way
I'm only wearing black until they develop something darker

True, we all bollocks things up from time to time. If you screw up, there's no shame in admitting your mistake, but getting all self righteous and going off is just, um... bad.

Too right ! I nearly got wasted by a 'crumpet' in a Black BMW a few weeks ago heading up Vivian Street towards the highway. Bitch objected to me taking at least five seconds to change lane so she put her foot down to cut me off and I didn't see her until she nearly sideswiped my left side. It was close so I stalked her along the motorway for a while to put the wind up. In the past I have actually applied boot polish to sides of such MV's however I just glare and stalk now a days.

The Team Leader is heading North tomorrow and as I have said I might head up to Waikanae, shes promising to wast any one on a yellow or gold bike so you have been warned. Shes not sure what brand I ride so colour is her target. Not too sure why she is so pissed off with me.! Can't remember which practical joke may have caused this reaction either.

Okay she got what was coming her way but I ask you this. If we reported careless driving or even a robery, would the cops take action within 2 hours. I don't think so.

An abuse of power I say.

    X5's are cool. Road superiority.
