The tosser in the 4wd didn't stop, didn't even know what he'd done

Broken indicator, broken handbrake lever, bent handlebars, badly bruised hubby - but other than that, not too bad all things considered.

Many thanks to the guy in the car behind him who did actually stop and help him up. He said that if Dave hadn't been in the way, he would have hit him instead, that was how little space the 4wd had allowed for his move over. My second question to Dave (after 'oh hell, are you OK?') was 'were you lane splitting?' - but no, he was actually in his own lane at the time!! Bless him, he didn't tell me til this afternoon after I'd had my 6R test!

Why do some people think they are the only ones on the road??? Gets me so p!ssed off

    An update......

Now he's gotten himself x-rayed (none done at time of original injury) and actually has a broken elbow Needs an op to fix

    **sigh**

why didnt they xray him first time round??? i got chucked in xray pretty much straight away..... surely they should have gotten him checked out when it originally happened?? even just a doc feeling the area should be able to pick up broken bones?

Yeah, tell me about it. I was adamant we were taking him to hospital the day after it happened cos the pain was so bad, but he was adamant I wasn't a doctor and he'd see how he went...**sigh** (menfolk.....they drive me mad at times!!!)

The medical centre the Navy have a contract with here in Wellington really isn't that crash hot and I definitely feel he gets lesser care under them than at the Navy hospital he's just been to in Auckland. They said he should have been xrayed right away too......

Ah well, not a lot we can do - the damage is done, the Navy will pick up the tab, ACC get off lightly, the medical centre get their fee for doing sweet fanny-adams and everyone's happy....'cept Dave who's having an op and me who's fuming even more than I was when the tosser in the 4wd caused him to come off!

Actually, I'm probably more annoyed with myself for not really, really putting my foot down and dragging him to A&E.

yeh...ya cant tell em can ya??
dads just had knee surgery little over a week ago. he did the lawns in the weekend, was up and down off chairs putting stuff on the walls, and up and down off the floor going through his books. and then he wonders why it hurts?? yeesh...both me and mum nagging him to sit down, he refuses to listen.

but take heart...when i came off my bike, i was determined i was going to work. pity for me, they actually took an xray and chucked me in a cast...all cos of a hair on the lens. they ignored my other leg, which is giving me grief whenever i kneel for too long.

hope hell be ok!! and not too much damage done in the time between then and now.

JCM and Hubby - that sucks big time!

Hope all goes well - did you get the number of the guy that hit him? Perhaps we could all go round there for a visit, like....(Hubby - bring your cast!)

No, nobody got his number. He didn't actually hit him, just pulled out in front of him so close (and without indicating) that Dave had to brake really quickly, the back wheel locked up and on a wet road everything slid to the side and the bike threw him off.

We'll know more about his op on Monday when he goes to see the doc down here. Altho given the care he's received up to this point I'd almost rather he went back North for the op - even if it means me driving up there to get him afterwards! (that's not a Welly bashing comment, just a total vote of no confidence in the doctors the Navy has their contract with)
