But nah Swanny, he/she won't win the award, I see at least one stoopid motorist each day who would eat that parker for breakfast...like one of my neighbours who just took off down the road and clipped one of those large plastic wheelie bins from the side of the footpath which ended up in the MIDDLE of the road, of course he never stopped to move it back!
Indeed - sorry just to clarify - I AM SHIT STIRRING. However the photos serve as a reminder that there are people who are (as we are all aware) inconsiderate of other road users, like myself, I'm dangerous. Anyway...

If you are riding (or driving) defensively, and able to stop in the clear hazard free road ahead, where is the problem?

A blind bend is exactly that. Blind. You must assume that there may be ANYTHING on the (unseen) exit, and ride accordingly.

Such a parked vehicle is merely one of the hazards that you will encounter round blind bends (or over the crest of blind hills). If you ride long enough you will encounter many others. Holes, gravel, ditches, tractors, quadbikes, farmers, tax collectors, animals, children, bathtubs, broken down vehicles, crashed vehicles, bodies, the list is inummerable. You cannot expect them all to be wondrously cleared away so that you may career round in blind and complacent safety.

You are demanding that other people should accomodate your unsafe riding practice.

    Slow down. Simple.

No thats dangerous parking, so we should all totter around every blind bend we come accross? The roads would be at a standstill.

Yes. And no, they wouldn't. Will you be so kind as to post the section of the road code that declares such parking to be illegal? Or even deprecated?

It is unwise, yes. Foolish, yes. Inconsiderate, yes. But it is OUR task as responsible riders to deal with the unwise, foolish, inconsiderate actions of others. The rider who fails to do so , and crashes as a result has only one person to blame. Himself. (which is not to say that it may not happen to the best and most cautious of riders. Noone can be perfect)

I agree with some of what you said there Ixion, I'm only highlighting the ignorance on our roads. Whether it be the clown doing 100 in 50 zones past schools and crashing into cars in front of a bus stop full of school girls or this clown with his parking.

Ixion I don't know if this is part of the road code in NZ, pretty sure its illegal to do that in the UK anyway I'm not going to waste my time investigating it - its a bloody stupid and dangerous place to park - period. If you want to play devils advocate please yourself - just look at the picture and imagine two logging trucks doing 80k's heading towards each other.

Well its hardly fair if a car comes around the corner at the posted speed limit and fails to avoid the vehicle, perhaps because a car is coming the other way? There is another car I know of on a section of road that was parked outside a house inconsiderately. A week later someone had crashed into it and written it off!

    Sorry just had a brainwave.

When working for local government was made aware that the Police have the power to remove ANY vehicle parked in a manner deemed to be unsafe upon receiving a complaint from a member of the public.
