Found myself a safe parking place downtown Chch

There I was doing the typical vulture circles around Chch's confusing one way street system hunting for a good bike park on the south side of central. Found no spaces any where and had to be at 150 St Asaph Street for an all day First Aid refresher course taught by the Order of St John - they have no client parking

Thought about dropping in on Sniper or OAB but wasn't too sure where about both you guys worked.
Using eeny, meeny, miny, mo,,, could've found OAB but was pressed for time.

After spending 10 minutes circling around those horrible one-way streets, gave up and headed for the nearest known bike park on the south side of central and hoped the walk wasn't too far ... this spot is right outside SportZone Suzuki on Manchester St.
Parked and locked her up at 8:15am safe with the knowledge staff would arrive around 8:30 and they'll be working from 9am till 5:30pm - course should be finished by then. Quick check for time restrictions and discovered none yet surrounding cages had 120 min

Figured bike would be rather safe parked there all day because after all, SportZone park some 20 bikes out on the grass in front, so naturally assumed that'd keep an eye on Joe Publics bike parked just a few feet further in front Also figured Mr Scum would think I was just a few feet away inside the store keeping an eagle eye on my steed.

Boy was I mistaken! They really did keep an eye on my bike, a really good eye in fact

Upon return found it surrounded by four brand new black coloured 2006 demonstrator models

While warming the engine and gearing up (it was pissing down with cold wind blowing), managed to have an uninterrupted peek at an 1800cc bike similar to a vmax, something that started with B (Big Dave test rode it recently), an unknown model and a very shiny GN. To top it all off, my bike didn't even get shuffled since I had parked smack bang in the middle so cages wouldn't accidentally knock it over. Unfortunately the bike wasn't cleaned or given a congratulatory service

So thanks for keeping an all day eye on my precious SportZone

They do not have foot paths in Christchurch? Seriously, I have been parking on the footpath outside where i need to go to (or within a few yards) for 40 years.

They do have foot paths, huge wide ones in fact.

Gave that serious consideration but seeing the street out front has paid meters and parking wardens check them frequently, plus this St John building has got emergency ambulances departing from it. I decided the risk of an infringement notice or impounding was too high.

    This is handy to have.

Each of the Ms in a yellow cirlce is a motorcycle car park. Be aware a few are 60 minute parks only.

That's very handy to have. Thanks
Seen a few of the 60's on my travels and think on Tuam St near the CCC building it's a 30.

They are good like that and on average each can park 4-6 bikes.
When I can't find a free park, it get's parked up around the push cycle frames

On the lowest parking level there is cycle and motorcycle parking underneath the ramp near Pak n Save. Just watch your head when parking the motorcycle
Once in a blue moon you'll have to get your bike to hold it's breath to get in or out too

Near the food courts end, on Riccarton Road side next to the State Insurance building, there is more covered cycle parking and often bikes are parked there too.
On the other side of the food court, I've see bikes parked near the doors and think there is cycle parking too.

    Hope that helps.

Ahhh...yeah forgot about the one at pak n save.
The problem with those is that the mall is so bloody big now you end up miles away from where you wanna be. The place I try is about centre (the one you mention above I think), on the bottom car park, next to the lifts. Theres pushie parking there but no REAL Motorbike spaces, so I squeeze thru, otherwise will use a car park...bugger them if they wont give us a few decent spots we will take a WHOLE car space instead
