Here's a bit of a money making idea for you:

Many Kbers travell between the islands and like to have their bikes looking good while touring. Set yourself up as a motorbike grooming service for riders passing through. Say $10 for a basic clean, $15 for a clean and polish.

Only 3 bikes a week will make up the shortfall, and if you keep it up it will also pay your basic running costs.
    Time to ride

what about all the nurses like myself? Over rated my arse...

However I was a maintiance and hygiene manager whil I was training. Required no degree and involved cleaning and fixing stuff in a butchery.

You're in Paraparaumu? Has the old man got a chainsaw? Heaps of money gets washed up on the beach. Get a trailer and go down and collect it. Then sell it. Firewood sells for about $200+ a chord. A chord is about 1.5 cubic metres (ish)

Eh...wrong...a chord is a combination of musical notes
A cord of wood is approx 3.6m3
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

No, a chord is a bit of rope.

Of course, I'm not as old as you so the imperial conversions aren't ingrained... And I said ISH

There's another money making scheme. The horticulture class at school (all those many years ago) was full of avid horticulturalists...

Depends on what you want to do for a job when you leave school. When I started at the company i am still with, it was earning $25k (woohoo, nothing too exciting thats for sure) but i also had my study fee's paid for to go to tech and do a Diploma in Construction/Degree in Construction. There are plenty of construction companies offering schemes like this, it is hard work working a 9ish hour day then heading to uni for 3-4 hours a night, 4 nights a week. But it is worth it once it is over.
As for making money, what are your skills, are you technicallly minded, you could offer a basic car servicing/bike servicing business, i.e. changing oil and filters.
You could find people who want a house painted (as long as you can do a decent job). or a roof (AHEM - WINJA) and that would be a good little money earner.
My personal favourite as a student was to buy things that were under their value, and then to resell, thereby making a capital gain over the purchase price. My best, was an electric guitar that made me close to $500, which as a student is quite a bit!

Put your mind to it, i am sure you can think of sumthing!
Nail your colours to the mast that all may look upon them and know who you are.
It takes a big man to cry...and an even bigger man to laugh at that man.

No chainsaw, no trailer, not even a bloody towbar. You guys are rite though there are heaps of possibilities. Not very mechanically minded. I ride and my mate fixes it in exchange for the odd burnout. And it was a typo the sale price for my bike, was meant to say $1000.
I could make any of you guys a website for a small fee. Hell I might be able to make you something similar to Kiwibiker... be ur own mod.
Thanks for all the suggestions though guys, I will definately think about them and plan. Also I always have first party comprehensive cover... (the parents chipped in), so not too much to worry about if i take a spill. 20% excess, minimum $200
