We don't want to see Aldana in his skeleton leathers on a Jap bike Merv! They were more famous on the dirt track. He usualy rode BSA's and Norton's.

    Geez formation flying.

As for Jap bikes the man was a legend starting on an 80cc Suzuki at 14 and moving up to a Honda 90 at 16 for some real power.
    Cheers

Yeah, the only Jap bikes you could use on the dirt tracks was the XS650,and they were seriously outclassed....it needed a rider like Kenny Roberts to put them where they shouldn't possibly be.

You mean this one http://www.superbikeplanet.com/dontpaymeenuff.htm brilliant?

Love the link "dont pay me enuff".

What I am finding is that it is hard to find Hayden dirt track photos on the net. Anyone found any good ones? Seeing this is the Hayden thread 'n all!
    Cheers

Here's one of Nicky on the RS750,that's all we need eh Merv? The other is a painting of King Kenny on the bike they couldn't pay him enough to ride.I sometimes use it as a wall paper. He only used it once, just to clinch the title which hung on one race.It had enough speed on the straights to blitz anyone, and destroyed the rear tyre....but it must of been a handfull.

I've used that photo of Nicky before to show how with no front brake he has fully compressed the forks and loaded the front tyre, pushing the rear wheel out at the same time. He'll push the rear out some more, then hold it with the throttle as he powers out of the turn. This is why the American riders were able to cope with such evil handling bikes - but at the moment it was Rossi and not Edwards who could ride around the Yamaha problem this year.....and Caparossi on the Ducati would put any dirt tracker to shame!

Thanks Merv, You blokes just reminded me why the body aches so much !

We'd do it all again in the blink of an eye though, wouldn't we ?

Back to Hayden, I will never forget seeing him at Mugello 05, Crossed up , smoking the rear and waving to the crowd and going soooo bloody fast at the time ! They're all amazing to me. Gaz.

apart from at least Rossi who believes too much dirt riding in your early formative years is not good for road racing
"...New Zealanders, for all their faults, have virtues that are precious: an unwillingness to be intimidated by the new, the formidable, or class systems; trust in situations where there would otherwise be none; compassion for the underdog; a sense of responsibility for people in difficulty; not undertaking to do something without seeing it through - "

I did my best laps after doing speedway it helps so much because you dont have the brakes and have to corner the bike at speed is lots of fun yes I was not fast at it but when I did my first track day back i did my best ever lap time Rossi doesnt count because he is not human they put a machine on that bike a machine with gigantic balls because he has so much more speed than anyone else likje getting back up to 13h you have to say he did deserve that title and i'm a Hayden fan
