To be GOVERNED is to be watched, inspected, spied upon, directed, law-driven, numbered, regulated, enrolled, indoctrinated, preached at, controlled, checked, estimated, valued, censured, commanded, by creatures who have neither the right nor the wisdom nor the virtue to do so. To be GOVERNED is to be at every operation, at every transaction noted, registered, counted, taxed, stamped, measured, numbered, assessed, licensed, authorized, admonished, prevented, forbidden, reformed, corrected, punished. It is, under pretext of public utility, and in the name of the general interest, to be placed under contribution, drilled, fleeced, exploited, monopolized, extorted from, squeezed, hoaxed, robbed; then, at the slightest resistance, the first word of complaint, to be repressed, fined, vilified, harassed, hunted down, abused, clubbed, disarmed, bound, choked, imprisoned, judged, condemned, shot, deported, sacrificed, sold, betrayed; and to crown all, mocked, ridiculed, derided, outraged, dishonored. That is government; that is its justice; that is its morality. (P.-J. Proudhon, General Idea of the Revolution in the Nineteenth Century)

See how lucky we are to live in this country. WE don't get drilled.

I know for sure that parking wardens have been checking WOF and rego for at least 12 years on motorcycles, here in Chch.

They chalk the number plate and come back when the month is up?
What a hopeless lot of people. I was sure someone would have told me they knew whom the blonde was by now. My mate works for ADT, must check this out.

A mate specifically parked his dunga Datsun Sunny in a Wilson's for this exact reason...
A local security Co contracts to the council here for doing parking infringements. The same Co also monitors the (privately owned) shopping Mall carpark for overstayers. Some of these characters were giving out wof/rego tickets in the Mall carpark....untill someone had them on about it. Tickets were torn up and letters of aplology came the council.

Well I do have a thing for ladies in uniforms and...
Pity the park is so small. We might have to raffle off parking spaces and remove our Rego tags etc to get a look in. Just my luck it will be a ugly hairy one on my turn.

The parking wardens are a cowardly bunch. They don't get paid enough to be brave and go near where a car is moving.

So, if you just happen to be without the required paper work, then park with your front wheel to the kerb and they probably won't look to the rear.

I've had them ticket me twice for the same thing but both times I've managed to get off :-)

check out http://www.parkwise.co.nz/ oh, and the site ain't what it looks like >:-) the devil has been to work

Er... a job is just that. A means to an end for a lot of people.

Also take note, a person who receives abuse on a daily basis in order to support themselves (and their family) would hardly be described as "cowardly".,

This is true, I would not have their job. I was thinking about and referring to their aversion to stepping in to the line of traffic just to check your rego. Personally I've learned that giving them sh1t don't do no good, writing to the council is much better, so I didn't even consider any one else would. I should have used the word sensible instead. Shuffles off back in to corner, removes foot from mouth and wanders off to check bike for tickets.
