C'mon cowboyz, be honest. You traded the 600 hundy in didn't you?

to be honest, i have never ridden such an uncomfortable, underpowerered piece of shit. I have ridden some pretty crap bikes over the years but this one really takes the cake. Probably not helped witht he foul taste in my mouth under the circumstances I ended up with it.
Well, the cat seems to like it...
Mate, I think you should keep it and turn it into a track bike. Your 600 is far too nice to risk dropping it.
Some things are worth dying for, living is one of them.
Why is it crap? Its purpose is to provide economical and reliable transport. It achieves that objective excellently. I would therefore say it is a well designed machine. If it be crap simply because it is not as fast as a GSX600 , then one must also assume the GSX600 is crap because it is not as fast as a Hayabusa.

I have however ridden a couple of GSX's including a few 600f's.
All have had such saggy bottoms and asthmatic air induction that the first person to come to mind is Robbie Coltrane.
Having said that as a Sport Tourer (the design breif of the F models) they are the armchairs of he 600 world and for a high milage bike are hard to beat.
why is it crap? I hope that wasnt a reatroricial (speeling excused) question cause I will answer it.
Biking (for me anyhow) has never been about getting from A to B. Riding a bike is about freedom. The enjoyment of having nothing around you but the wind breezing past you as the scenery goes by. The Volty is crap (TM) because it is uncomfortable. Your knees are up round your ears. The vibration through the seat could only be enjoyed by an out of work hooker who needs a fix. The rattling of the bike in general is unnerving because you get the feeling at any time something is going to fall off it. The power is barely enough to keep up with the flow of traffic and certainly not enough to get out of trouble. In fact, with its lack of power it would be very easy to get caught up in some physco car drivers tailgating/passing to close etc.. feeling helpless to do anything about it making the only option to slow down or stop to get out of the way. Passing is not an option. It sits on the road much like humpty dumpty sat on the wall with the crosswinds and trucks making it difficult to manovure.
The Volty is the equivelent to the Lada.
It is not about speed. It is about enjoyment of riding. The Volty has no enjoyment at all in riding it. It is not about being crap *compared* to something/anything else. It is just about being crap.
Now, moving on to why the gsx6F is not crap because it is not as fast as a hayabusa.
Firstly, The 6 is comfortable. Really really comfortable. I can ride it all day everyday no problem at all. I can clock up thousands of ks a week on it without issue. It sits well on the road. It is nimble around town and has very predictable power with enough power to get past anything on the road in minimal time. Its acceleration is such that when winding the throttle open you get a nice, safe and secure power buildup very quickly so that you know you are accelerating but don't get the feeling that you are going to fall off the back of it if you let go of the bars. I have never ridden the hayabusa so who knows. I have chased one for a little while and can confirm (in case anyone was wondering) they have a shitload more get up and go than the 6f.
Again, it is not about comparing bikes and saying this is crap because this is better. There are a heap of bikes on the market that are better than the 6f. I never said the 6f is the greatest bike in the world. It is a fantanstic bike though.
I guess you wont be keepin the volty then![]()
Thank you for cheering me up Lance. Keen on a scoot after work tomorrow?
None of which makes the Volty in any way "crap". It simply means that the Volty is not designed to meet your objectives.
Every motorcycle is designed with certain criteria in mind. To meet the differing requirements of differing riders. Some will require high performance. Some good fuel economy. Some good handling in deep mud. Some a good luggage capacity. Because different riders have different requirements.
The Volty does not meet your requirements. But then it was never intended to . It is a loaner. Such machines are provided by shops to provide transport for their customers. It is impractical for shops to match their loaners to the long term requirments of the customer. It provides transport until your own machine is back on the road.
Your argument amounts to a statement that any machine that does not meet YOUR requirements is "crap". Even though is may be entirely satisfactory for the requirments of another rider. That seems rather arrogant.
The motocross rider , on that basis, would certainly deem the GSX600 to be "crap" It has no chance at all of winning a motocross race.
I would say that a machine is "crap" only if it signifcantly fails to meet its design objectives. Which is not the case with the Volty.
You are entirely justified in saying that the Volty does not meet your personal requirements. But not that it is therefore "crap"
(Incidentally, of the several hundred different motorcycles I have ridden over the decades I have never yet ridden a single one that was not fun, that I did not enjoy riding. Each in their own way of course.)
