The demise of our freedom to speed - RIP

It is with a saddened heart I have to report that our freedom to go for a blat now and then has been taken away from us. I'm a broken man. A shell of my former self. I'm going to book myself in for therapy and ask for the strongest & fastest anti-depressant drugs .
Why? The Police have won. They've swamped the roads with what seems like a HP for every 2km of road in NZ.
Game over. The funs over, the other team won. Everybody go home and wait for boredom to consume us.
It just seems even cruising the motorway at anything between an innocent 110-115kph now and SLAM! It's as if the HP materialise out of the seal itself!
Just been out in the car for a short trip and saw two muftis. It gets worse, it seems the driver of the new black Falcon mufti with chrome mags, tow bar, spoilers, lives in my suburb! I feel claustrophobic, like being trapped in a nightmare where you just can't get away from the bogey man. Ever turn, there he is, radar/laser at the ready. The dog handler stopped me recently and nearer booked me.
Not that many years ago we would scream up the Kaitokes to the base of the hill. But now. I'm terrified if I go above 108kph. I break out in shakes and a cold sweat. Where have all the good times gone (screams in Pink Floyd tone).
I'm not talking about irresponsible racing through populated suburbs and the like. I'm talking about cruising an open road or motorway with stuff all traffic, good visibility at 120kph (wasn't considered wreckless that long ago) that sort of stuff. Although I confess I'm all for a bit of full on speeding in selected places, but this now has lost the thrill because of the 'Coppa-phobia' I'm suffering from. Can I claim on ACC for this suffering caused by the Govt?
Edit- if you think this is the bitter ramblings of someone nearing a full house of demerits..that'll be right.

Sad but true mate, you could always take up something with a lesser penalty like Burglery/ theft or abuse, smaller fine and you can get away with it much more often.

Quite right. On a risk vs reward basis crime is looking more attractive for thrillseekers.

Actually, for all my militant ravings, I have to agree with you on this point.

There's still a lot of roads that aren't infested...well in this area anyway...

yeah bro cops are everywhere eh? Have to be bloody careful or bloody fast and hope they dont have an eye in the sky! If I ever build a racetrack KB members will get free entry lol.
Then I could get a Kb Tshirt, move to Timaru and become a full time crossdressing faggot

The only track I have access to around these parts I would have to share with horses and my bikes too hard to get out of the starting gates without wrecking it.

and the horses would only kick my ass anyway.

Call me irresponsible but I enjoy going as fast as I can, sometimes. I deplore the fact hat our Lords and Masters have set an arbitary limit that they feel is safe. I am disgusted with them that they use it as a source of gathering revenue. I think it criminal of them in most cases to vilify those persons who pay their exhorbatant salarys for the mere fact that they "were exceeding abitarily set limits".

I do expect and believe that in certain areas there should be some control. These are areas of high danger to others, but on an open road if a person chooses to travel at a velocity greater than set by our MASTERS, then they should be able to.

If they happen to have an accident then it is their fault, (sorry in todays society nothing is an individuals fault, its all societies mistakes).

I have a personal ambition, that before I die, I am going to exceed the speed of 200mph (320kph) on a public (i am a member of the public) road. If the doctors tomorrow told me that "sorry Chris, you have only 6 mths to live" guess how I will be spending it !! SPEED.

GOVERNMENTS ARE ALL ABOUT TAKING AWAY FREEDOMS FROM THE POPULACE.

Yeah dude...I hear ya. Resigned myself to keeping it below 125 these days and when I have the cash will be getting a bike that's more fun at these low speeds.

Got a track bike but I will say there's not a hell of a lot of tracks in the north island. For me it's basically Taupo, taupo, taupo or the boring Pukekohe.

Thanks mate, that's really cheered up those of us sentenced to do time in the North island.

New rule- all South Islanders are to stop reminder the rest of us how fantastic and empty their roads are!
Same with 'go to a track' - I do, I do, I do (see how sick I'm getting. Now I'm quoting Abba). Track days cost time and money and require advance planning. You can't just pop out on the spur of the moment for an hour in the evening to the track.
