    Scorpygirl rode to work

    Hi all

Well today I had my first ride to work. Only from Mt Eden to Ponsonby but a big milestone nonetheless. All good there. Everyone at work was asking questions and some drooled over the bike!! I sent out a blanket email telling people not to try to shift it themselves - a more mild form of you toucha my bike, I toucha your face.

The ride home had a few problems including an irate bus driver cause I stalled the bike twice at the Valley Rd intersection. Grrrrrrr. Breathe....Breathe...!!!

Still I enjoyed the new experience and will be on the bike again tomorrow. The more practice the better and this is a good way for me to learn.

    Roll on tomorrow!!

Well done....... you are doing so well now on your bike.

Dont worry about that bus driver....... he thinks cos he is in a bigger vehicle that he owns the road..... just take a few deep breathes and breathe out as well and take your time and restart her up and go when it is safe to do so.

Yep keep up the practise as well...... especially the stopping bit.... (you know what Im talking about aye Miss Freddy Flintstone) and it will all come together for you.

Soon you will be riding all the way to Tauranga or Wellington...... or way up north for a weekend away....

    Scorpygirl goes country!!

Well today, I thought I better get out and do some country road riding before the Girl's Coffee Run on Saturday. Rhino and I got the map book out this morning and decided a ride to Waiuku might be nice. I didn't fancy SH 16 today cause of the possibility of traffic all in holiday mode.

We gassed up at the Mobil service station that has now just opened up again in Mt Eden Rd and off we went.

It was pretty windy at times and the little Virago was getting buffeted (sp) about a bit. Even Rhino said the Wing was getting hit too. We made it to Waiuku and had a stop for a nice cold soft-drink and then we headed back again. The wind was even worse coming back but I coped with it OK.

Thank you Rhino for covering my back a few times, especially with the people mover on the on ramp!!!

After coming back into Auckland City we then went to the Auckland Zoo. Walked around for an hour an half. Didn't have to worry about parking cause we parked right up on path near the shop. The bikes were certainly getting the once over twice over from the zoo crowd.

We left the zoo and the traffic around Western Springs was amazing - due to a concert. Cars and pedestrians everywhere. The lights had been turned off and there were pointsman on duty. It was a very interesting ride home to Mt Eden. But good practice for slow riding and looking out for hazards.

I did 135 km today. Wahoooooo!!!

Roll on the Girl's Coffee Run!!!
