Girls wouldn't be happy at all if the guys of KB planned a ride that was strictly "Men only," so if the shoe's on the other foot, exactly the same should apply. If Men can't exclude Women, Women shouldn't exclude Men.

whoever organizes a ride can decide who they want on it. If woman want to ride on their own then go for it.

I have told people before that I don't want them on the ashhurst rides. Just because of their reputation and it wasn't fitting with the way the group rides. Personally I don't know why woman need a ride of their own. Us guys aren't that bad but if they want to then go ahead.

Don't see why not but some people have made valid points about the clubs in NZ if they are going anyway its moving AGANIST men which is also bad considering the point of the anti-sexist movement is supposed to be exacty that!!!

Recent attempts by the ladies to publicly organise a girl only ride has attracted criticism from some male members.

This got me thinking. Is organising a girl only ride in open forums going against the spirit ok KB?
Or should they arrange these rides in secret, or go somewhere else to organise them?

What do you think?

If there wasnt a section for biker angels or if there wasnt free organization in here i would probably have said no - but there is and its not against the rules. If the rules said we werent allowed to do it i would abide by those because i would have signed up knowing that.

I've voted yes, (although I don't mind some guys coming along - I think there were some fellows tagging along by the end of the last ride). However, to to be told that we can't do it because it's not "in the spirit of KB" is not on. I have not been riding long and it can be intimidating being in a big group. The last girlie ride was great - no pressure, ride how you like.

Yes, that's how it should be in a mixed group - but let's be honest, it's not always.

There's other groups that organise rides that I won't go on because I don't fit in the group (e.g. dirt bike, adventure ride...) but I don't get my panties in a twist about it.

I think a very big deal is being made about some chicks who like bikes trying to have a good time. How about letting us do it?





PS - deviant if the guys want to make a boys only ride, I don't have a problem with that either.

If girls can ride 2 wheels there Y cant the organise a ride. U might b surprise in how well they do it.

I think there are still plenty of women who feel intimidated by the presence of men, that's probably why there are so many women-only clubs (anywhere in the world).
I doubt whether that has anything to do with girls-only rides, it always sounds like good fun. (personally I don't like group rides though)

I dont get it... I myself enjoy riding with guys... in fact there was a time I was the only woman rider I knew... but hey who cares...

My point is - Do what you want, that has always been my motto for life...

I notice when I go riding that there are VERY FEW women riding bikes, in proportion to the number of men. You notice that in various cafes, top of the Takas, using bike parks round town, organised rides.
We are still a minority.
So if girls only rides help address the imabalance, and get more women out on bikes gaining confidence, surely that is a good thing for both sexes.

I love riding with guys… When I organised the Wairarapa ride (chicks and dicks) a couple of weeks ago, we had about 30 bikes… out of those only about 5 were female riders. But I loved that ride, and loved meeting a lot of new people. Without Sels1 helping me with that one, we would have ended up god knows where…. doing god knows what. (hmm sounds like fun!)

But I also don’t see the prob with organising a chick only ride occasionally. I bet some organised rides that happen, no girls show up, due to the fact there aren’t as many girls as guys. But chick rides arent exclusively girls anyway and guys tend to show up… which is always welcomed. But its also nice to actually outnumber the men…. empowers us to give the ones that are there even more shit.

I don’t want this to turn into a bitch slapping session… so basically what spanker said.

I really enjoy organising rides … and really want to organise more in the future, esp in the Wairarapa, but I don’t want to have to bake muffins to tempt the guys to come along to them.. because they feel they arent wanted. Because a) I don’t really like baking and b) I am not that great at it.

Exactly, believe me, I enjoy riding with the guys, but it's nice to have a ride with the gals in mind, usually turns into a gossip session, which is great!

For the record, I don't have a problem with the guys having a guy only ride, gives me a chance to do something that doesn't interest him, or gather my girlie mates together and go for a ride or something. Also I've run out of bling for the day, so yeah!

Where is the option for who cares?????
Ride with whomever you want - sheesh, you can actually organise a solo ride (you know, just you on your own).
I don't care what happens, or who rides with who, surely it is about the ride!!

All the male riders I know encourage and are terrific guys to ride with..long before I came across kb..and the guys I have met on kb I have ridden with them and they appreciate my riding level and we all just get on and RIDE!!!

honestly...do whatever you want. myself, i prefer to ride solo. if i do ride in a group, i prefer males. i may get left behind, but then my preferance for solo rides comes into play.
i generally dont get on well with other women, so a womens only ride, for me, would turn into a cat fight.

I agree. From a practical confidence building perspective there is nothing
sexist about a girls only ride.

It is a good way for women to prep themselves for the mixed rides I reakon

KB is about encouraging and promoting motorcycle riding. If girl only rides
can get womens riding confidence up, then KB is achieving its goals.

and the guys can enjoy us in their rides without being anchors half an hour behind all the time
