Im a Kiwi (both pakeha and Maori) and i had no idea what maori mate was all about, so instead of going off and getting annoyed by everyone elses thoughts on the subject i tohught id enquire more about it. So... charge the fulla with the crime as he did commit it, then if he can be healed by kaumatua etc, then he should be allowed to contest the charges - good luck on that tho when your defence is supernatural reasons, would be better to plead insanity.

And for the chap whom discharged his firearm in defence - charge him also as he committed a crime.

And then hang the media who seem to make a mountain out of a mole hill at every chance they get.

Well said Bull it can be hard for people to understand the supernatural side of the Maori culture!! just cos you havent been exposed to it dosent mean it's not real if people beleive in something strongly enough it becomes reality!
