    RIP biker.
I am anal about ATG ATT, but it seems that this is one instance where having or not having proper gear would not have done a slightest bit of difference. Apparently the collision was so bad that the car (!) burst into flames. Alas, in bike vs. car, car always wins.

BTW does anyone know what went wrong on southbound sh1 in the region of the spaghetti junction at approx 1315. The traffic was stopped for at least 10 minutes. I sure hope nothing serious. May be another 'save the kitten' stunt.

EDITED: Here is the official announcement. F***!
"People are stupid ... almost anyone will believe almost anything. Because people are stupid, they will believe a lie because they want to believe it's true, or because they are afraid it might be true. People's heads are full of knowledge, facts, and beliefs, and most of it is false, yet they think it all true ... they can only rarely tell the difference between a lie and the truth, and yet they are confident they can, and so all are easier to fool." -- Wizard's First Rule

Buell going uphill from Feathers, seems he may have been caught out by a wind gust as it appeared to me that collision happened in downhill lane. Impact across front of people mover and a big head-sized impression in windscreen. Ambo took rider towards Feathers quite slowly, possibly not a bad sign?

To the contrary. If an ambo takes off slowly it's usually a bad sign.

Funny how the stories grow in Tardme... thought they must have been talking about something else...

Don't think he is a KBer... lived out Waitara. Had his daughter on the back earlier, luckily not at the crash...

Short version... Early days but speed on his part "may" be a factor but investigation continues... the car did a U turn in front of him...

    Really?

I've transported many people at road speed or below if it's a bit bumpy... never been a bad thing as far as I am aware...

Usually, if it's a fatal, the ambulance won't transport the victim. The police leave the body in situ until their scene exam is complete, and the on call undertaker will be called to remove the body.

My bad. Didn't realise that's the way it works over here. Back at home ambos will take the deceased away.

It was some dozy bint stopping on the Newmarker flyover, jumping out of the cage and threatening to jump off.

Apparently, it was only for 10 minutes, but in typical Auckland motorway fashion, the back up lasted for hours. Oh, and the Girls Day Out thing in Greenlane wouldn't have helped much.

Off topic, so anyway. RIP biker and condolences to the family.
