Yeah mate this weather is not clearing as hoped. The rain radar is a big pile of wet stuff. I dont mind rain riding at all but it sure aint my preference if the Sun is out tomorrow.
With ya on that one Cam ! Looks like there might be a break where it's just showers after ten for a while, but ya sure to get a drenching somewhere !
Gonna look good turning up to the 50th at a bike club in my van lol

Would take me 45 mins from my house to get to bottom of Haywards, but it takes 30 minutes (when comfortable) from my house to Waikanae over the summet. I'm pretty far up, just a few minutes before staglands
So then your Location should read something like: I can here the roar from here

I bought some wet weather gear to wear outside my cordura when commuting back in Auckland, but I would rather only use it when I HAVE to! If we don't get to ride today, enjoy the 50th mate.

Haha yes sure can. Hear very few cars, more bikes and plenty or "roaring" going on. And that's not just the neighbours. The stags are pretty neat too! ;) Oh how I love the country - except when its raining on a scheduled ride day

Haha - you have noticed that I'm blonde right? I can't remember ANY jokes that imply a blonde being clever. :) Just happy to see him on here.
But I think I am clever enough not to venture out in this rain. My road is slippery, I am not used to how my bike feels on this road and the tyres are still new. Plus, its bloody huge - reckon it will take me HOURS to clean and polish later :) - We all now how obsessed I am about that.
Safe riding to anyone thats out and about. I'll text Carla and tell her not to expect much of a show, she said it hasn't been too wet so far. But its pooring at my house, so in my house I stay.

Well I decided at the last minute that I would tag along. So left home at 10.20am to catch up with the crew. Well I was never going to make in time for a 10.30 departure at New World in Waikanae to instead caught up at Manfield.
After watching a couple of races we went up to the windfarm, across the Saddle Track and into Pahiatua. Quick detour North for lunch at the Tui Brewery.
Then home. The group split into several smaller groups for the run home depending on where people lived. Eugene and Anomoly went for a detour through the Wairarapa. The Black Stig, Ducatigirl and myself headed down SH2 and Toaster, Katiepie, Darryn etc went home back over the Pahiatua track.
Bloody good day out, didn't strike any rain until Featherston. It then rained all the way home.

Fantasic day everyone. I got home at about 6.30 and am absolutely knackered.
What a beautiful day it turned out to be up north huh? The heavens opened up for me as I headed over the Haywards back home. There were two accidents too which slowed things down a little.
But a great days riding. Some really good roads up that way, and stunning scenery. Just loved the wind farm... could feel the "air in my hair"!
Great riding, first class company, and one very very dirty bike for me to clean tomorrow.
But tonight, I now have a very hot date with a bottle of wine, popcorn and a movie.
Have added some photos - not too clever so am sure I would have stuffed that up somehow. Thanks everyone, what a bloody fantastic bunch you all are!

So much for you soft cocks that stayed at home, we had a great day, weather was almsot summery at Manfield,
We spllit ranks on the way home,Carla went north to Taihape, Dennis and I decided to go to Sparkies at Himatangi instead of the Tui Brewery, how ever when we reached Sparkies Dennis decided that the talent that we had been ridning with was 200% better than at Sparkies so we hot footed it over the Paihatua Track and met up with the crew again at the Tui Brewery, who by the way had just arrived , not sure what they were doing up at the wind farm either that or D and I had a tail wind.
Quick beer and a bite, fueled up in Paihiatua and then headed back over the Track.
Struck rain north of Levin and suffered wet undies all the way home.
A great ride, for those that stayed home, should have been there guys, and to those that were there what a neat group of people, met some new faces, the regular crew are a great bunch to ride with, caring, funny and human, thanks Cam for organising a great ride and to the rest of the crew thanks for a fantastic day.

Thanks Cam for bringing it all together and providing a another excuse to get out
What a great stop at Manfield track to watch some motor racing
Always enjoy the Saddle Road and could never bring myself to be put through the torture of that George
Also like Katiepie enjoyed the wind blowing gentle through my mohawk at the windfarm (I'm still working on my head-flick after first removing my helmet but practice does make perfect)
Thanks also to Eugeine for the back roads leading to the Tui Brewery Cafe
Great Cafe and always have been past it but never stopped
Was I the only one who ordered a dish only to see someone elses different dish come out and wish I had ordered that (Cam's pancakes with bacon)
Also hit the rain on the way home but hay its always great to give the gear a wash anyhow
Thanks all for the company, smiles and laughter
Catch ya all at the next one

Was a bit slow out the gate, but got out there in the end, missed you lot at manfeild but met up with my kids to watch a few races ! Stayed for one too many (could see the crap rolling in again) and met the rain in woodville, couldn't be arsed stopping to drag the wets out, so was a little damp on arrival to my destination in Pahiatua ! But by the time i passed out at 5 am i was well warm lol
Rocked home through fog firstly and then rain from shannon south yesterday feeling like doing it all again lol !
Good call to go ahead on saturday Cam, was bloody surprised how quick the weather changed from crap to brilliance !

Seemed to have been a slippery weekend everywhere. I hit diesel on the Haywards heading into a hill on the way back. Gave me a hell of a fright, wasn't expecting it. Gave a little bit of throttle heading into the hill and my back end was doing it's own thing.
Good to learn what it feels like though whilst still under control.
Bike is clean and shiny now. Washed it yesterday and polished it tonight. Man, I need to get out more.

Jeeze Mark didnt realize you were that close
I just though shit that corner's tightening up, then quickly squeezed my butt cheeks, let out a wee bit of air which in turn increased my lean angle and gave the impression that I was intending to ride that line at that angle (we wont talk about the passing beforehand which didnt help one bit with our entry speed will we)
Did increase the heart rate after it restarted down the road
For anyone who's ridden that road its the first corner when just entering the double passing lanes from Pahiatua side close to the hills (watch that unmarked grubbie little corner)

Had a blast on the weekend. After splitting off at Pahiatua Vanessa and I rode out to Alfredton, where I then mistaken the turn off for Tinui as the turn off for Masterton (although in my defence, the sign did say Masterton, even though I wasn't looking). We were cruising along quite comfortably, untill I saw the gravel. As I had previously ridden this road on the XR when I went to the One Night Stand, I knew that the gravel went on for quite a long way. After telling Vanessa that the gravel went on for ages, she was still keen to go across it, and as I knew it was a pretty well kept road, I agreed to it and we continued on at a very ginger pace. As Vanessa plodded along, I had a bit of fun creating some dust clouds and testing out the traction of Pilot Power 2's under adverse conditions :). 30ks later, we were finally back on the seal, and headed for Masterton (another 60k to go) as it begun to hose down. After a stop off at the Mobil, we headed off over the hill, and back home. I think next time when I mention that there's a long amount of gravel, we might be turning around hehe.

Hey chickie, I won't be able to do late avo on Saturday, need to visit the family in Feathers. It's always a tricky one finding a time that everyone can make huh? Perhaps Sunday if you and I don't head up for the forgotten highway? I'm still undecided about that one..

Haha you knw I will follow you anywhere :P
Nah long gravel ill make sure im on the xr next time just like cold kiwi :D

On the other hand - I joined the Raumati sth residents assoc in planting out over 2,000 trees around a local wetland (I've planted around 7,000 now one way or another) so it was worth missing a ride for. Even managed a kayak this evening for a fish (no fish - just caught the same stupid shark about 7 bloody times - it had more holes in it than a sieve....)

Thats a good idea - let someone else pour the drinks and do the dishes. There are several options we could look at, one could be Gordys Bar - we have a good relationship with Gordy (a biker) with the Wed night and Thurs night rides.
Great idea , a semi local ride around the Kapiti Horwhenua and finish at Gordys for the usual.

Was a most excellent adventure.
Had a bit of everything, Coffee, Cows, Dogs, That crap Gravel/Silt/Sand and fine company.
Loads of thanks to those that stopped and pointed the way, and to Carla for organising.
Special thanks to Glen for keeping the lil 250 in his mirrors on the way to the Gladdy.
Was a brisk start to the morning turning up to the top of the takas an hour early. Then
all of a sudden the top is covered in bikes was quite awesome.
Finally scraped a footpeg going up the Takas, scared the living daylights out of me.
Cheers everyone!
No worries Clint... keep up the good riding Dude!

It was more crowded with the awful than awfully crowded....
Nah - we did it 2 or 3 times, usually had a ball but I think KB is a bit big for 'open house' these days...
Amongst the options could be having a cheap upside down xmas meal some place and could invite significant others etc? However a ride sounds fun.

i was told it would rain alot during winter in new zealand, especially wellington. but this?
I didn't expect it at all and it's been raining for the past 2 weeks non-stop. And I need to get on my bike each day. it's not fun, I can tell you that..
plus that, as I haven't got a dryer, I can't dry my clothes.. guess I'll have to put some wires at the ceiling of my room :S
