Denis! Lovely to see a post from you. Its just the hotel / pub on the main street in Greytown. I simply go there for my favourite food, and its a good excuse for a very short blat over the hill for me. Often a nice place to have a wee drink or bite to eat after a rider over in the Rapa.

That's hilarious Ratti!! I wonder who's house it was I tried to walk into:doh:. I hooked up a 12v cigarrette lighter power outlet to my bike battery so I can plug my GPS into it, I might have to use it.

(SH1- turn left at lights, down Kapiti Rd to Beach, left along Marine Parade about 100m and there you are!

And at the moment, my riding is all over the place anyway, and can't afford to not be focusing on what I'm doing as that's when mistakes can easily happen. Going back to basics with practising my skills, and thinking about each step that I go through to try and get a better grasp out there on the roads.

Will join you all again soon, perhaps when the Welly riders group is out on a separate ride.

Fuel stop at Faulknors, picking up Stormer, then onwards to Castlepoint. Then returning via the white Swan in Greytown. Hope there is food at castlepoint

What a day we had. I decided i could better spend the hour cooling my heels doing chores, by riding over to Rimutex to meet the team, I had no idea who was going to be there as everyone seemed a bit vague, But what a spectacular turnout. Onwards to Martinborough where calamity befell Hamish when his R6 dumped all its coolant on the side of the Square:(:shit::angry: Goodbye Hamish and James:bye: (we thought)

The rest of us proceeded over the nice back roads to Masterton to fuel up and meet Stormer, then onwards to Castlepoint. I have not been out this way before and loved the road. It was (mostly) clean, and warm, good Wairarapa riding. Great to see you there Hans

A bite to eat, photos to be taken and then to the Gladstone. where Hamish, James and Wayne appeared as if by magic (Hamish owes his mum big time for trailering over a replacement bike and taking the R6 back home:niceone:)

Another fuel stop (human fuel:apint:) in Greytown where Hamish expressed concern about the Harley oil spots on the road outside the Swan. Better a few oil spots then a load of R6 coolant aye Hamish:facepalm:

What kind of shape are the roads in over in the 'Rapa? Looking at Mastertons rainfall over the end of the week, 2mm from 9:00am Weds to 9:00am Fri, it would seem you missed the deluge we got over this side.

The Paekark Hill's had a lot of cleanup work done on it but it's still in "approach with caution" mode.

I remember going to a mountainbike race somewhere way out near Riversdale Beach. We left in the pissing rain thinking we were hardcore MTB's, spent the day baking in sunshine and drove back to the same pissing rain in the evening.

gidday people, It was my birthday yesterday and I was allowed to take my race bike out for the day, WOW!!! I forgot how fast the bloody thing is. I made a daring dash over the haywards thru to u/hutt and saw some family before doing a mission to beat my bridge to bridge time, alas I was 23 seconds slower but still an awesome acheivement as I havnt been on the bike for about five months now. The next fine weekend if anybody is going out let me know cos I might be allowed to aswell, I TRULEY MISS THE 300 PLUS MAN!!!:woohoo:

The Mauriceville loop is not a bad ride to add to a run over this way, and dry roads make it even better.

hi Chris - was great to ride with you and to meet some new faces. The day was to good to waste so Bianca and i did the whole ride again, but as i entered Greytown, discovered my rear tyre was rapidly going flat:angry::angry:
All sorts of knights in shining armour appeared and soon waved a sad farewell to great yella as one of the aforementioned knights took her off to Masterton on the back of his ute for some first aid. Well - hope i see her again:blink:.

Another lovely knight pillioned me back to Martinborough on his 1098. Forever grateful, but those bikes sure arent made for pillions:sick:

I have learnt some lessons here - mainly keep bike first aid stuff on me. No good sitting at home in my garage:facepalm:

I have just returned from kapiti. had a magic ride over the 3 hills, both today and wednesday. Heading back over there tomorrow morning in the car, but can see I may have to brave the rain so I can do the Sunday ride back over. Any other kapiti riders going to come and play:msn-wink:

thanks Katie, I had a bloody awesome ride! absolutely loved it. It was just what I needed to get the confidence back after a 10 mth break from riding! it was great being led around those fantastic wairarapa roads.

that accident didn't look too good.. big plumes of black smoke etc

so yeah, nice to meet all of you and thanks for letting me join in. just over 500 km for me today... body is a bit tired (not used to it)

Have not seen any news of the incident near Gladstone ?? I hope it was not serious. (I suspect if it was, then it would have made the media by now)

Had a good play on the way back with an Audi 8 and 911 Turbo...they were going hard...passing cars up the main street in Featherston!!! I thought this looked interesting, so tagged along for a play...until the hill. :yes:
