Hey All,
Thought I'd better remind ya about the Ashhurst Inn Apiti Scamper 2011.
Come for a great ride, great burger, great company and a very very worthwhile auction, with amazing items from a Weekend away, ferry crossings, riding jackets, restaurant vouchers, and food hampers. Most of the stuff went last year for next to nix, ask those who came last year.
See ya all on the second, if you don't know where the Inn is, it is the Red Pub you can see from the main road in Ashhurst.

I got two new tyres and need a decent ride so am thinking Pongoroa for lunch? Any takers. will post more details and map later today. But thinking coffee stop in Martinborough 10.30ish. Leave there 11, up the nice way to Pongoroa fro lunch, then back same way, but stop at White Swan or Gladdy. Kapiti riders may want to go back over the Track?

Looking at a Suzuki GSF1250SA or a GSX1250FA (both very similar)
Something a bit more upright and suitable for touring and riding two up.

Lot of bike for the money aren't they. I've been trying to persuade Darryn to get a KTM SMT because I fancy a ride on one but he's not biting. It could be just the bike for you.....

Hey do you guys have any 250cc regulars?
Hey Braydon -we can cater for all level of riders. If you want to come along, should have no trouble finding someone to mentor you. Also check out wellington riders on Facebook. The pics are from the ride yesterday, which was a mix of Kapiti, wellington and wairarapa riders. This included a couple of riders who had there first ride over the Takas. Its more about fostering the spirit of good sensible riding and comradeship, rather then about a race. Thats what the track is for:blink:
look forward to having you join us one day (with ample fuel in tank:facepalm:)

It is bloody awesome. So smooth, so much grunt. It is very stable. I no longer have my fear of RH corners. Sitting upright makes me feel much more in control of the bike. I certainly feel more comfortable in corners. I haven't even had the bike past 5000rpm yet. All the riding so far has been two-up or to and from work in 50km/hr areas. But it pulls like a train and has tall gearing. There is no need to change down and rev the snot out of it on the open road to make a quick passing manoeuvre. Just leave it in 6th and open the throttle a little. Just beautiful.

Reports of surface flooding in the region don't exactly make me comfortable about riding around corners.

Sounds fantastic Pierre and also sound like the characteristics your enjoying are what I like about my bike. Although the speedie isn't too good 2 up but gear changing is very much optional on it.

You're right it won't compete but then it's not a competition... and we do stop periodically to regroup.
There's also a group on Facebook "Wellington riders", or something like that, and they divide the bunch up into different grades of ability, so you can ride with your peers. Check it out.

They just do what you're right hand tells them to do so you'd be fine.
On the other hand... when we were coming back from Castlepoint I was in second and third gear most of the time... and if I got into it and gave it it's head in second, which is when the world begins to blur around the periphery of your vision (which is fkn lovely), the speeds are just so bizarre so quickly that you wonder WTF you're doing. Making the national papers and walking for a month... the end. The S1000RR is the same but the hit is even higher in the rev range.. the ZX10 even higher still... it's nutty.
The Speedie or a Tuono VR4 is probably where I'll end up. The hit of acceleration but with the windblast to keep things in check.

G'day Chris - glad to hear you're thinking of the Aprilia - great choice. Incidentally the weather here in Central Qld is mid 20's and hasnt really rained for a month....

You should have a borrow of mine sometime. Fantastic pull all the way from 4000 rpms. Not the same nutty power as the supersports but for road use, all you need and more.
Cool. When we're over in the Rapa sometime we can swap.
