Hopefully this is a goer, am working on the second part of it as we speak! You need to get a hold of one of those video to DVD converters, I have used Windows Movie maker to edit them down into smaller bites.

Second part of the Esplanade extravaganza! Enjoy all the videos on this page and give them some feedback for the future breed of motorcyclists to appreciate.

Remember the Video on the Taupo GP of sidecars further up, this was my favorite race of all time, got us a National title number one! Not sure what happened to Lusty and Biceps that day, they pushed us right to the end, and with two laps to go they dropped back. You may notice how they smack a tyre and fly off the track in the last few seconds of that race too!!

Have fun all.

Still in parts accumulation money saving mode (still yes i know why is it taking so long)
I have all the major stuff basically just about other than bodywork.( i think bert should be able to help there)
the crank and the cylinder is going to be ubber expensive. (alloy sleeve nicksil and destroked) but hopefully long lasting.
Wobs wanting to send the motor down for fitting so the pipe center-lines can be done.
I will have to pull finger cause the progress is f-ing slow and need a good kicking.
Realistically i should have never started without a donor bike you think i would have learnt that by now.
OH mrz Husaberg is out working to at the moment (first time in 8= years)so hopefully she is not spending "OUR Money" at the moment just hers.

Hopefully the reliability comes up with the numbers this time. The fact the poor little engines are dragging a heap of extra weight around as well as being thrashed to within an inch of their lives can't help. They are usually also a bit of a side project for solo riders up to now and running two classes you don't get that much time to fiddle in the pits when it all goes a bit wrong. Running three classes gets way too hard which is why I passed my F5 onto a mate to ride.

Got an early race where someone rams Regan coming onto the main straight, all exciting stuff, would have been better if I had not spent a lot of time pushing sidecars around the track. Have noticed I am a bit shaky with the camera while trying to prevent a heart attack coming on!!

Yip and I had a few issues to start off with (fueling and getting over the fact that I won't fall on my head) and a couple of changes that I've made took a little getting use too. Like all racing one's head is what ends up stopping success.... I should have gone to the previous weekends meeting in Wellington to get my mind on the job.

Missed the start of the first race (Cully luckily let me out just before the leaders came around).

Race two: went quite well but had a couple of moments in the infield that I didn't quite get me head around and started to drop back.

Race three: up to 6th but then had a wee moment with a lapped crashed motard and made a dork of myself on the grass hill avoiding him; three corners to go. but I was starting to get my head around things. Tried to get it restarted but no joy, No points pissed me off a bit. I seem to have an infinity with motards....
Never really had enough puff to hall guys in; infact was getting left behind and need to think about gearing (never used the full box over the weekend)

Changes made:
This was the first outing back since crushed ceramics main bearings in June;the engine got a new set of steal bearings and new piston/ring/little end.
I've added a new radiator and a wobbly bypass (I'm not really sure i've got it set up the best; maybe getting some air locks) but it did hold it at 72 degrees during the races. After talk to "No Mates" we might look at a different system up under the dummy tank.
Also re-done the forks: new seals and moved to 7.5 weight oil. seemed to work real well now (given I'm 90 kgs), just requires a little more laps to sort out the finer details but had no issues what so ever over the bumps in the pit exit corners.
We got the powervalve working and saw a difference; I still really need to optimise this a little more (it made a difference in the mid range).
Carburation: not sure here. we had it running well on the dyno but it seemed a little off, shite down low but not too bad up top.

Looking forward to pulling her down and having a looksee inside now she's done a few hours. I've also got to encourage the lead engineer to make me a new head insert with a little less volume (its currently running at 9.5:1 which is a little low really).

The track was nothing like I recalled and I actually enjoyed the flowing nature of it and it was great meeting up with everyone.
Sooooo looking forward to the next round and those lovely straights....

Yip and I had a few issues to start off with (fueling and getting over the fact that I won't fall on my head) and a couple of changes that I've made took a little getting use too.

I always seem to need to put a jpeg into a another program ( i use picture express to compress it a bit but it is still saved as a jpeg only the file size get smaller) when i are adding scanning attachments. This way of course the photo will be there forever and not removed due to subscriber to paying fees etc.........
When i try to load it direct from the scanner at the definition i use it is invariably far bigger. ie 1mb vs 698kb

I should probably ask on the ESE thread as i realise you guys are much further south.
But is Mount welly the main kart track for Auckland cause it seems like i aren't getting value for my tax payer dollar if it is.
Or is it the only bucket friendly Auckland track.
i can also see why TZ wants to cut down on the gear changes a bit.
nice to see he really nailed that entry the straight on that last lap too.I looks like it (the corner)really tightens up on you so hats off......

But Is there any chance of posting it with a two stroke soundtrack.
Great video though

Henk
4th December 2012, 21:20
It's the only bucket friendly kart track. Rosebank road is in better condition and longer but they have consent issues with noise so are limited to the number of events they can run, don't think they would entertain thoughts of having us along even if that wasn't the case. There are plans for a new track out wiri way in the next year or so and when that comes off we will be moving there as well as all the kart guys with the two existing tracks getting shut down.

Pumba
5th December 2012, 05:31
At the speed the consenting process of the Colin Dale Par, location of the new track, don't be expecting to be there next year regardless of what the kart club is telling you Henk. Best case is that the kart club will be able to start the construction of their facilities 2013/2014 construction season and I would be surprised if they are up and running before mid 2014.

I final revised master plan as a result of changes due to contamination and the confirmation that speedway wont be moving to the site is being signed off by the community board pre Christmas (hopefully before I change jobs). Once it has been signed off it will be public and I will share it with the KB public.

http://youtu.be/di3fdPznLlg

Great Weekend.
But a mixed bag of results across the team; but none the less points in the bag for A-graders.

Quick summary.
Saturday saw Team GPR's factory racer (Regs) blow a head gasket only to find a pulled stud on his new FXR engine; so some bike swapping allowed for qualification (mid pack).
This was going make it hard to keep up with Richban & Rick; both whom were flying.
Saturday evening a complete engine swap was under taken out of Crazyman's development bike into the GPR150 frame, so that Regs could attempt to chase down the leaders and hopefully get some good points (possibly taking the lead in the Series). Nothing like some brotherly love & thumbs up to Big K for lending Crazyman a bike to carry on racing for the weekend. Full team effort.

Race Day:
Two seconds and a third for Regs; massive starts helped close the grid gap. but Richban & Rick had the pace up front; none the less they were great races to watch.
(Hopefully this will put him top of the series table).
Crazyman finished mid pack on the borrowed bike; which was a sterling effort.
Big K dominated B-grade (claiming pole and leaving everyone behind); but couldn't quite get through all the traffic in the last race (after starting off the back).
and I had a shocker (and managed to de-tune my bike even more; issue found today -> powervalve nearly 45 degrees out... total 140 degree duration at full rpm = no power)..
The sidecar didn't really happen (eating sparkplugs) but did a couple of laps... Next time.

Big thanks:
Steve and the Team for running a great event.
And the Tokoroa Kart club for having us back (after Rich's mess last year).
Mr Farmaken for leaving a BBQ for us all (and not to mention some lovely cow meat).
Henk for the loan of some bits and pieces; plus the port roadies after sunset (I slept like a baby)..

Lets hope the world doesn't end on Friday cause this is just sooo much fun. :)

is it still from Southland or has it moved further north.
It was on Trademe a while back they at the time had another spare as well as part of deal where did the other one go?

Seems like the pair are still in Invercargill, I reckon this would make quite the weapon. Don't think it has as many horses as it makes claim to though.

Pretty reasonable for two bikes, would be interesting to compare on the track with it's counterparts.

Same price as it was over a year ago..................
surprised someone hasn't had a go for the cylinders they do a 300cc conversion kit based on them for the NSR250.
The motor is extremity similar to the NSR125 with a larger bore longer rod and slightly different gearbox ratios.
They were made in Thailand or Indonesia only i think.

Sad man last night after seeing/testing all the GPR modified FXR's producing the same or more power than the TZR... :brick:
But there is promise there (and we are still running the stock 95 RS125 pipe; which will be miles off) and now seems to really want to pull strong up to the limiter (currently only set at 12500rpm). So there is scope to get some more out of it with some effort.

At least I win on the quite bike front....;)

It'd say a bit more but not much, was real strange 'coz it revved OK and had a reasonable range but there was obviously something holding back an engine that should be so much better.

Right, Bert now has 21 HP. No more playing around in the B grade.

It was likely to be making 11-12hp at tokoroa (which was highly frustrating and making me really regret starting the project, the TF100 was far better); powervalve 90 degrees out meaning no exhaust duration... & no power.

resolving the powervalve, a little more comp and Carb&Ignition map has unleashed some fun to test out on the christmas fun in welly.
I don't think its 22hp maybe 18-19 at a push, but its a vast inprovement over the last couple of north island rounds.

Yes Henk; no more pissing around; its the rider not the bike thats the hold up
having nearly two meetings not crashing (only a little nap in the grass at mt wellington dosn't count); so maybe i can get on a roll...

You haven't been on B grade pace at the away meets, nowhere near it!
its a hard one really; should the top B-graders be running constantly at mid to low A-Grade times.
The answer is yes in my book, so the transition between grades isn't so steap and everyone in both grades are on a learning curve. Those front runners in A grade are really pushing (Its a massive step up from years ago)..

Anyway; I trust everyone is having a great day with family and friends.

Big thanks to Vic club for their Christmas special.

Interesting couple of days

Tuned up real keen (having found some power) only to have the motor turn to custard when warming up the bike. Locked solid. A few light taps with a hammer (on the crank as it really felt like it was bound on a bearing) free'ed everything up. But then on restart she vibrated like crap and ran on once turned off. Balance shaft... Engine out and pulled apart, only to find the primary nut had come loose and the key had left the balance shaft gear (free spinning). Piston had some mild scoring so that was cleaned up and all put back together with a new ring. Only to have one of the power valve cables break... Wired open. So this gave me the afternoon to have some fun....
Chucked the chain in two races (one leaving me on my ass in the dirt: real dork). Friday night spent fixing everything up.
Day two. Must have detuned it some how as she was not preforming like on the dyno. But it was rideable but a few carb issues down low ( need to look at the pilot circuit). But had a great day in b+ 7th, 4th, dnf, 3rd & 2nd. Real close racing with a group of 4 riders generally together.

F5dave took it out and provided some feedback and some other engne ideas to think about.
The engine is showing sme promise just need to get a few things sorted...

F5 Dave
30th December 2012, 10:45
It certainly has some promise. found the gear change a little difficult & it self steers a little, but I think some more comm on the forks may help that. Can't fault the chassis itself, it has some advantages over my NF4.

Nah! Can't have stuff like that get on the net!

For Rick, this is how the video got sorted. I import video via firewire, use Windows Live Movie Maker to change the file from a .AVI extension to a .WMS extension. Is easy to cut portions of the video as it has a 'right click' select start and similar to pick end of the portion of the video. The .WMS is the best visual quality I can find, the video of 5 minutes took one hour to upload to Youtube.

Hope that helps a little.

we are happy to say that we have finally soured replacement levers at a price that won't break the bank (your's for $20 each).

We should have them well before the next North Island round (including a new shipment of Master cylinders and 100% cnc alloy throttles), maybe by the next Welly KOK.
so If you have missed out, had a crash or are wanting an upgrade or spare; give us a heads up and we will make sure we have them at the track.

Don't forget Round 4 Manfield 16th Feb(backtrack) and the trackday on the sunday (full track) (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php/154542-North-Island-Series-All-the-dates-and-info?p=1130434014#post1130434014) its a hoot playing around with the bigger bikes on ya bucket.

EDIT:
North Island series has been changed due to issues with the Manfield double booking.
Click here (http://www.kiwibiker.co.nz/forums/showthread.php/155703-NI-Series-round-4)
The event will now be in Wellington; at Kaitoke. On the 23/24 Feb.
Well done Skunk for getting this resolved

Some light entertainment on the Sidecars between other events (I think Crazyman may have got on the piss early judging by his camera work)!

Good to see more of these, preferably going!! <_<

The GPR boys gate-crashed the annual Honda track day at minefield yesterday.

Offered up a couple of great opportunities:

1. wide open testing (resolving jetting issues in my bike).

2. A chance to race (read attempting to follow in my case) around with one of NZ's demigods; Mr Slight (playing in second gear on his CBR).

Big DG took the opportunity to tell Slight what he was doing wrong out there
We couldn't quite convince him to trade in the honda for a GPR150; but much giggles was had by all.

Great to see Crazyman out on his Kawasaki 750 superbike for the first time in couple of years (and enjoying it) and also test riding Steve B's IMD250 for the first time (which looked really good on the track).

The old man enjoys a good chin wag, here he is telling Slighty how to ride at Pukekohe at the 2005 Classic Motorcycle Racing Register's annual festival. Also giving John Britten a hearty thumbs up for his contribution to NZ's racing history! (Think we have some Britten Cams in the back shed too from memory!)

Wish I took a photo of him chatting with Giacomo Agostini whilst he was here a few years back.
