how frustrating is this, i have been offered a Suzuki RF900 with a staintune muffler, AWESOME custom paint job and only 12000 kms- yes only 12000 kms on the clock with heaps of spares for only $6500, bugger it im already heavily in debt, how on earth can i raise that sorta money,, still gunna try though as a bike like that would last me for life. and by fuck it sounds great.

Its a hard one, cos you will want to sell your bike fast for lots of $ but to sell it fast it has to be cheap!
Good luck any way mate

There s a lot of new names on here that I haven't met and hopefully I can put that right on the day of the Rescue Helicopter charity ride. I presume theres a few others in the same situation.
It would be good to be able to meet up just prior to this ride on the 28th.
The problem is we haven't got a KiwiBiker flag to put up to meet under - which is unfortunate because that is an obvious thing that we all know, stands out in the crowd etc
Then I got to thinking - it looks like there is one of our members in Dunedin who seems to be known to all, rides something that screams "look at me" even before he starts it up (and then it SCREAMS - 'fucking well look at me NOW" when he does start it up) so maybe we use him as our flagpole (he's not quite tall enough, but close)
So does anyone NOT know Delphinus ???? - no, those of you who wish you didn't but do actually know him don't count.:bash:
So how about we all gather around the computer geek riding the canary?? - wheres a good place?? Opposite MCR ??
After all that Jack - are you actually going to be able to make it?

For those of you who mentioned they are considering the have a go class at Teretonga some info from what I have seen them do in the past. Sign in starts at 9am. The cost in the past has been a bargain $30 and you will probably get 4? 10 min sessions. Don't miss the riders briefing or you probably will not ride, newbies get an extra chat after the main riders briefing.
If you are timid the track is fast... with high speed corners but its wide enough not to cause hassles with faster riders passing.
If you want to check details the SMCC website is http://www.southlandmotorcycleclub.org.nz/
The contact person is John Beck and there appears to be heaps of extra events scheduled this weekend with...
South Island Cup - Round 2
SMCC Winter Series - Round 2
Sportzfotoz Junior Cup
so if you want to make sure there is a 'have a go' section might pay to check first.
I will be there anyway Motard #78 so say hi!
EDIT::: I see from the South Island Cup regulations that Scrutineering is at 8am and riders briefing at 9. So if you are expecting to have a go then phone them first to check that its included in this Sundays events.
If anybody does call to check why not post the answer for the others who may be considering the trip down. Should be good to watch anyway.

Well I'm heading into Dunedin on the bike soon so if you see a big black thing with headlights like a railway train - its probably just me.
If its not raining when I get to Waihola I'll probably skip over the Taieri Mouth road - still trying to get that road worked out. The corners aren't easy to read and there always seems to be loose stuff - Delphinus and I had quite a few twitches riding through there a few nights ago.

I went over there last Saturday and they are repairing the seal (yes already) just as you leave the top and drop down towards Whaihola (heading south). Ha - sorry but I would rather check it out than travel all the way there for nothing. Want to swap bikes for a few laps???? Well you can't blame me for trying! Did you find out what the story was with times. Scruitneering etc and sign on time? God I hate those early starts. See you there. My front tyre is meant to arrive tomorrow - the old tyres that came with the rims are like riding on grease.

Hi all, i had a great day yesterday at teretonga.
We got 4 runs for $30 so that is pretty good val.
Poor Nathan had a bit too much to drink the night before so only did 2 runs before he decided he better ride home before he does something too silly.
The first run was a bit wet but we were the first group, so by the time it got back to us the track was pretty much dry.
I managed to do one lap at 1:10, and a few at 1:12 but averaged around 1:14.
I had some serious fogging issues with my helmet so i think it mite be time for a new screen.
Highly recommended and im definatly going again.

Well whatever day that lot were going through, all I know was that I was with my rugby guys (I'm one of their medics) out at Miller Park,(Green Island) on saturday and there was a hell of a lot of "some bunch of bastards" allriding northwards on the motorway right in plain view in front of me. They could have at least left earlier from wherever they came from and have gone through while I was inside and could have been oblivious to their passage.......
as it was I just had to stand there and watch them go by....

Okay, folks, finally thought I would say hello. :wavey:
My name's Glenn and I've only recently got back into riding on road after a while off, but still had fun puttering round off road on farms and such.
I work in a call centre here in town and have a nice big old '87 Suzuki Savage LS650.
Have been recovering from a leg injury (non bike related) that has taken a while so once back riding (need a new tyre for the beast) will be looking for shortish rides to start with, keen to finally meet some of you guys.
Having read through 138 pages of posts over a week or so I feel like I know some of you so well already.
As some have noticed I have put my name down for the KB rally and really hope to get along, will do all I can to make it. Also keen to get along to some other rallies $$$ permitting.
Tend to be very shy when I first meet people, but once I feel safe I open up and there's usually no stopping me.
Any questions feel free to ask.

Welcome! It's not Contact is it?
I used to work there as a CSR. I wrote a guide entitled "How to steal power and get away with it".
But I decided not to show it to anyone except my friends, because stealing from massive corporations who won't notice the loss is still a crime, M'kay?

So who was the dickhead who got photographed (in todays ODT page 22 ) on the Cheescutter protest ride . For those who haven't seen it the photo is taken from a following car (doesn't say whether it was the driver who took it). It shows the rider riding along in heavy rain at the back of a group of bikes and he/she has stood up and swung his right leg over the seat and has it just behind his left leg.
Thanks to this dickhead the only publicity photo for a ride to protest against unsafe road barriers - is of a rider doing dumb unsafe riding

If that bike had bald tyres as some have suggested then it would have been interesting if he had hit an unseen pothole in all that rain - a series of uncontrollable standing up tank slappers followed by a quick check of the sump of the photographers car??

No Fees to watch the gravel sprint or the Bucket and Motards at the Silverstream Kart track either. Next Bucket/Motard meeting there is 3rd August so rock on up for a look. Lots of people who do have a look end up wanting to have a go themselves too!

Hi guys
Just a heads up. It looks like they're putting in a fixed speed camera in Maheno about 300m from the south boundry facing south.
Should be a good little earner for them as not many would slow in time coming round the corner going downhill.

I did it last year and its longer than that. It was a good mixed course hard gravel road, soft gravel tracks, a small drop off, some smallish jumps. It was a real interesting and fun track they laid out an I managed to get around OK despite my crap off road skills. Enter the clubmans and you get twice as many runs too! Sign in is 11 am Milners Pit opposite the Taieri Golf Club.

You poor old bugga - actually I've NEVER been to one!! - does that make e a lot younger than you?? It always clashed with lambing when I was a kid so the folks never took us, but I could hear all the bikies going up through the gorge on the way to it. I don't do a lambing beat anymore so getting away is a lot easier then.

I'm not aware of any clash with the BF dates. It does cost to enter a float, and all bikes would have to be capable of travelling at walking speed or less. I do know of a GN I could get for the day, that should be slow enough.
However if anyone wants to stay at El Rancho for the weekend, its always open house.

If they were to do it they would need to go first at a normally pace... then the rest of the parade brining up the rear
Last year at the toy run the ole VTR was struggling with the heat... poor girl wasn't too happy about that :(

The blossom festival is a lot slower than the toy run, mainly because there are people walking in the parade, and its alex, so it always farking hot
What we did was get right up behind the people in front then stop and turn the bikes off for a couple of minutes then same again.

I know...
but if you do the bike run first then the bikes don't have go at that speed... it will become to seperate parades in a sense

It won't be all that hot at the end of September - its not summer temps we are talking about here - as for the speed - mmmm - we could ride in an oval pattern going round and round with the oval gradually moving forward - some of you sports bike riders might be :buggerd: with that though.
If we were really good we could do a figure 8 if we could avoid each other in the middle ??? - then at least we get to turn both ways
That might need some practise in a car park or quiet road - twood be easier after a few drinks??

Pat circulated them at the club meeting last night and i am guessing they will be in the newsletter next month. I wasn't worried about the cold - it was the way my motor missed after the big puddle (small lake) and my air filter was soaking wet. The club meeting also discussed a Club web site - so maybe in the future you can look at them on line - but not yet.
