Maybe I should set an example for some people by swallowing my pride and admitting im a complete n00b?
ok ok folks....
This is not the place for this discussion.
-------------------------
TOPIC AT HAND is next wednesday is a public holiday -
Can I have some constructive feedback please on your suggestions for doing the AWNMR session during the day this time, as a once off thing to make use of the daylight?

Skirting the point eh?
Then where is the place for the discussion? You never mention anything in person, only on the internet. PMs wont do either. If you have any issues, talk to me, i get a lot more wound up when shit is argued against me online.
Back on topic, i take back my idea of doing it in the day as im organizing a ride to mangawai, anyone wishing to come for an open road ride rather than a carpark ride, there is a thread in the meetings section.
Im leaving this thread for a while. Sort of defeats the object of an open forum.
I'd recommend a decent length country ride would be a good idea, you can only learn so much in a car park after all, and those afraid of moving from the theory to the practice may find they've taken up the wrong hobby.
And on that note, weather looks good for a ride tonight...
So - why not a ride in the afternoon, finishing at the Westgate around 7 as usual, for critiquing and practice of what was observed to need work (an maybe the theory of it) . That covers all bases.

Doesnt hurt my back, just hurts all over... I don't do it too often. Some other people should try it, they might be better at it than I...
Fair enough. I have a suggestion then, meeting at westgate as usual and usual activities. But during the day, if people want to, join an open ride, without the whole mentor thing, and like Karma said,Unless you are meaning 5pm at the north shore area or 5:30 at westgate you will have to count me out because I work MOST public holidays, can't afford not to and most of the pillocks of this world are are on the road.Good practice nonetheless then they can liase and get feedback of how the ride was with mentors that evening.and those afraid of moving from the theory to the practice may find they've taken up the wrong hobby.

Next Meeting - Wednesday 25th April
This week as it is Anzac day, we are going to incorporate a ride during the day and finish up at westgate by 6:30pm to meet those that are working for practice session as usual.
Meeting at westgate 12PM (lunchtime) - following me to meet the other half of the group at Mobil on the Panmure roundabout in east Auckland. From there we will follow Kittyhawk (our mentor for the ride) to Whitford, Clevedon, then Kawakawa Bay, Kaiaua then Miranda. Take main road back to Bombays then motorway back to westgate for 6:30pm practice.
This ride is open to ALL 250cc riders of any skill level - however please note this is going to be a primarily 'beginners' ride and will be at a slow pace.
All riders: There will be NO overtaking on the left. NO dangerous riding behaviour. Those that cannot behave will be told to leave. We will be using the pointer system used on most KB rides and this will be explained in detail on the day to those that are unfamiliar with it. There will also be a tail end biker (Me) so that no-one gets left behind or lost. There will be several stops along the way so no-one gets tired. I advise you all to dress warmly and if the weather looks grim bring your wet weather gear also. This ride is approx 100km long and is suitable for all learners.
Meeting in Shell, Westgate at 12pm and follow me to Mobile Panmure (roundabout) to join a secondary group.
AWNMR - Carpark Practice:
Meeting in Shell, Westgate at 6:30PM and directed to a practice area nearby.
Please ask if you would like an escort to the venue and I will organise something for you
Starting with a practice session covering a range of different skills and techniques under the close supervision of experienced KB mentors.
Depending on numbers and experience levels of those attending, a short ride may be included to practice further skills.
Finishing at Miss Q's in Westgate for a drink/food and debriefing from mentor.
Just a note here folks
We are a bunch of reasonably experienced riders who are happy to pass on our riding experience in an informal way
It will NEVER replace training from Qualified instructors like the Ride Safe course or the 1 on 1 training people like TRICIA1000 are able to give you --- Frosty
PLEASE FOLKS THIS IS NOT A GENERAL OPEN RIDE -IF YOU WANNA SHOW OFF YOUR MONO SKILLS DO IT ANOTHER NIGHT

Crikey a 6 and a half hour ride to cover 100km. You really did take Macktheknife seriously with the slow as possible race idea huh?
On a more serious note:
If you are embarking on an endeavor such as this it is good manners to fill your bike before departing from the first stop and repeat any time another rider needs to refuel. It is not nice being on a group ride when one or more people run out of gas and is worse when someone different wants to stop at each gas station.
In addition prior to departure ensure you have:
Lubed (while hot) and adjusted your chain the day before.
If you are not taking money to buy food, take some food.
During the ride:
Make sure you keep your fluids up.
Make sure you have adequate gear.
Be courteous to all road users, especially fellow newbies.
If you have ear plugs take them, a long ride can really harm ears that are not used to it. (sore ears really mess with your balance, not good on a bike)
Have fun, keep the black bits down and shiny bits up.
