Being a Londoner I am well versed in sarcasm and that was a poor attempt.

But agree with your point as you say it now more clearly......

Their isn't any genetic excuse for obesity within the normal human weight spectrum, which is what we are discussing. Not minor variations in weigh given the absence or presence of a particular pair of genes.

Which is why I said read the article. It isn't talking about obesity. Obesity has life threatening implications. Being mildly overweight (in some gym bunny's mind) doesn't.
A male only has to have a body fat % of 30% to be classed as obese.

Plus you will find that most 'fat' people grossly under estimate how much they eat so it is a 'Disorder' whether genetic or not amd not necessarily a 'lifestyle'

    It's not a disorder!

I eat too much, so I'm fat. It IS lifestyle. If I stop eating fat, I shrink pretty damn rapidly.
If a man is alone in the woods and there isn't a woke Hollywood around to call him racist, is he still white?

    Well in the UK there is the 'Eating Disorders Association' which deals with;

    Anorexia
    Bulemia
    Obesity

It used to be called Anorexia Family Aid but medical experts realised that there were other eating disorders.

Would you say that alcoholism is a mental disorder.....because it is just like depression and often depression leads to over eating, drinking too much....

Everything is labeled a disorder nowadays, so much so that being normal is abnormal

Years ago when flying a 10 seat commuter aircrarft (piper chieftain) for Eagle air I was accosted by an extaorinary large woman who had settled into one of the passenger seats.
'Oi, the seat belt is too small' she snarls, holding her seatbelt about 6 inches from meeting around her immense midrift. I look at the belt and note that all the other (blushing) people have plenty of room. Shit this is novel.
'Umm sorry we don't have any extensions'.
We just didn't carry them in those days on that type.
'Not good enough, the plane is too small'
    Ummm
'Sorry, but you will have to get off and re-book on the bigger aircraft, it leaves in an hour'
'No I must go on this one, you sort it out'.
I could understand her frustration though I figured that perhaps a diet would have been her best plan. I had a schedule to keep, all the other punters were looking impatient and she was becoming increasingly obnoxious about the little plane that couldn't accomodate a 200 KG woman.
    'Hang on',
I put my knee into the side of her belly and after a bit of a shove and (her) gasp I managed to clip the belt as it dissapeared between a couple of large spare tyres, but she was legal.
The flight went normal and she got to where she wanted to go and on time, though maybe a bit uncomfortable. The after landing tirade that I and other ground staff recieved, followed by an angry letter, certainly showed her appreciation for my assistance and solution.
I often wonder if she ever figured out what the problem really was.
If you love it, let it go. If it comes back to you, you've just high-sided!
