KX85 or CR85

Darren is on tm at the moment but no sign of interest yet ... gonna miss that bike. yeah got one of each lined up for a test ride on sunday, but keen to try a few and see what it's like. I do know for a fact that I am waaaay overdue for an upgrade.

either way keep in mind that you'd be wise to invest in an FMF Fatty pipe for it, this will dramaticly increase low to mid range power... on any 2 stroke.

for those noobs to 2 strokes, for example in 1997 the bills pipe gave the CR80 an additional 6HP - from 17-23 at the wheel whilst boosting mid and low range significantly (refering to ADB's 'minirider' 1997 model pipe shootout)

Have also seen for an 85, not that i'd bother with one - i don't think you need one.

Yes I am looking at getting one...maybe Bartz can help in that dept. My bike has larger sprocket than standard and still not happy with hardly any bottom end. Little cc bikes are hard work around the tight stuff if they hit like a light switch.

My biased opinion is to grab the KX85. They are mechanically unchanged for a number of years and for a small bike have a not bad at all bottom end power

bikes nowdays are so even, just go out and buy a good one in your price range and not worry about what colour it is...

Whatever you end up with, youll get used to, powervalved or not.

Just buy the best deal you can. Fuck the colour. Easy.

also the honda is newer and cheaper, and from what i can see is also largely unchanged from 96 lol.

evidently new technology is not a top priority in little bikes!

plus the exaust is on the wrong side in the kx, i used to burn my left leg all the time on my mates kx when i was a little fulla.

Why worry about brand?

Just go look at them and have a little test run. then buy the best one, it's that simple. Most people on here won't have ridden both a cr85 and kx85 extensivley that are answering on here. And if you rode a mint cr, and a shagged kx that was falling to pieces you'd like the cr more, and vice versa. just get the best bike for your money.

And don't worry about what aftermarket bits you need on it, you need to concentrate on if the type of bike (mx 85cc) is going to be right for what you will use it for. This is done buy riding them.

Took a KX85 out on Wednesday for the day! It was awesome. Also thanks Grace I rode her bike the other weekend as well. The KX85 went so well through the tight stuff, totally different from the heavy 250! Big ticks all round. However I haven't tried the CR! Loved the power band, although I nearly got left behind on a few occasions! Definitely try them both out though. The power band is totally different to a 4 stroke for sure! I've got my bike on Trade Me and looking for an 85 as we speak.

Contact Tjebbe Bruin in north coat. He makes them. However I think it won't help a 125, they are just like that.
