Yea, I read that thread today, and was a little confused, as to if this was the same incident or not!
From what I read, there is little in the way of evidence (one witness says bunch of Harleys, which (the presence of a group of Harleys) is backed up by an "after the fact" independent witness, where as another witness says it was a red Ducati 900...... who is right?), so the chances of someone being charged is slim (or maybe none)
My opinion has absolutely no effect (thankfully), but my somewhat cynical approach to things like this goes as such.
The witness (person involved in rear ending the "victims" car,) has every reason in the world to (attempt) to find a scapegoat, and as such, her memories maybe a little "unreliable".
While co-incidence is no proof of guilt (phew!) and, I assure you I am totally impartial to this, to me, it does seem A HUGE CO-INCIDENCE that
A) the driver of the Subaru said it was "a group of Harleys"
and
B) A group of Harleys left just before the first group on the scene.
Fortunately, NZ is a democratic country, and evidence is needed, BUT, if the guys/girls in question are indeed not guilty, then they should come forward and tell their story to the cops. Despite what some people with have you think, they aren't "Stazzi", and no-one is getting shot.
I am guessing it would be unwise to ride a red motorcycle (of any brand) down that way about now.
Using a basic pattern of events scenario, from what has been posted here
........ Using two witness descriptions.........
, A group of Harleys left the Peg, passed a Ducati 900, and the Rider of the Ducati tried so hard to catch the Harleys and pass them back, he ran a Subaru off the road.............
Sounds like an episode of the "twilight Zone" to me...........![]()
