No it wasn't, street racing was pretty much always current machinery except for the odd event like the later Cust and Southbridge races, the NZGP title was even contested at the Sydenham street race back in the early eighties

Ok.. you dont get what I mean... the old shitters 'were' the bikes that used to race the streets as there were no tracks around back then (even before you) yes then those old shitters were 'new' they grew up on street circuts the GSXR didnt.

Would rather sponcer a class or race cheers. Sponcering riders is a huge drain on the business for very little result in terms of payback. Where sponcering a race or class gets my name mentioned often on the PA system and tv (if there is any) coverage. Having said that i do sponcer a couple of local guys for the King of Ruapuna series andthe nationals.

I only put so much effort towards the racing it because i love it.

The first year I did this with my Ducati I almost got hit by a rapidly sliding/spinning Kawasaki 400 while braking for turn one. He had fallen off as soon as he touched the brakes so his bike was travelling considerably faster than I was as it came past. Bit scary that...

The next time I did it on my Ducati, Hemans big bore Harley Soft Tail 1580went down next to me while braking for turn one. 315 odd kg of Harley spining right next to me. Bit scary that...

    Year 1: around 160kg of Kawasaki 400, 2.035m long
    Year 2: around 315kg of Harley 1580, 2.4m long
Year 3??? By Extrapolation, I should be nearly taken out by a 6240cc motorcycle weighing around 630kg and around 2.8m long. Any Boss Hoss' entered this year? Third time unlucky? I think I'll stay home

Actually thats not why I'm staying home this year. I just can't make it work this time, but good luck to all those that are going. If your thinking of racing or spectating, DO IT, its a bloody good event.
