been past the township, past the quarry, 200 meters from the open road signs in a 70k area - see the cop on the other side of the road, check the speedo - 80ish Klm/Hr

I thought I'd be ok, being so close to the open road sign and all, but no

pulled over and fined for 84 klm/hr, $80
And wouldn't ya know it - my WOF was over due by two weeks - fine of $200 (it was booked in to be done - along with a service next week)
Went to the nearest testing station before they closed and got the WOF, so hopefully won't have to pay the $200

I'd been doing around 70 all the way along that overly extended limited speed area thru Huntly (behaving myself) and was merely slowly increasing my speed toward the open road - I just think giving people tickets for that kind of speed 200 meters from an open road sign is completely antagonistic, and just breeds contempt for the police. It could've been palatable if there was a school nearby, an intersection, lots of traffic or some other potential hazard? But there's not. what an arsehole

My question is; due to the fact I have exceeded the speed limit at times and not been caught, should I just accept this kind of wanky behavior and not let it annoy me ?
What on earth does the cop think he's achieving? Policing people 200 meters away from an open road sign and a piece of road with no real dangers or hazards?
I had a similar and decided to fight it in court.

In my case, I'd been dogged by a bloody great truck for the previous 25K's.

I even got the cop to admit, in court, that he had to step out of the truck's path as it passed, some thirty seconds after I had stopped.

So off to court I went with measurements of the road, the distances between the signs and the hill beyond, copious data on the workings of the Stalker radar.

I even managed to get a white-board into court so I could lay it out for the Judge.

Chortle. The issue I hadn't factored was the Judge in the Huntly District Court. It turns out she was just a JP...her official title being 'Community Judge'. Yeah right. A JP.

And so, there I was, drawing my issues on the whiteboard, explaining how the Stalker Radar will always pick up a huge target instead of a small. I explained the geometry, the trigonometry, and the ground-effect propensity of 36Ghz radar signals, and how the truck behind me, being 8M square, and made of steel presented a far greater target than a bike, with no flat steel parts, covered in rounded plastic fairings, atop which was a rider dressed in leathers, made a far better target.

I presented all of this in unequivocal, mathematical fact. Did I win?

    Nope.

The JP asserted the math was far beyond her understanding and that she had to trust the police.

You see how this worked? She admitted being a mathematical dunce and just chose the easy route.

Mind you, if a bunch of folk can get off a manslaughter charge, on account of the judge asserted that witchcraft is a perfectly acceptable reason for drowning a woman, I suppose I shouldn't be too surprised that the Huntly Court JP "didn't understand the math."
    Only 'Now' exists in reality.

Huntly District Court has the worst reputation for very inadequate judges, adjudicators and JP's, they have such a poor understanding of their job. But what's worse they sit down with the likes of the police prosecutor, and old prick called Gulliver, and work out the how to screw over anyone who appears to defend any charges - it's a sham
This Gullivar also schools up young officers on what to say, even if it means bending the truth to win
People who think our Police and courts are fair - just have no idea, and live in a delusion only the white middle class can afford
