bit of a dredge but
new grips
Turned my rear tire then pinched the tube just as I poped the last of the bead grrrr so pulled it out again and patched refitted wish I'd bought the longer tire levers.
Cut muffler down big bit on end of it kept tweaking the pipe when I come off hopefully will be less time spent straightning the mounts (for the noise police its not much ouder just don't have a spark arrestor any more)
also noticed front wheel bearings were shagged so changed those to .Think the wheel bearings would have a better life if the spacers had a steel bit where the seals ran ,seal eats into spacer dirt and water get into bearing though gap bearings kaput.
had to finish this in the dark for some silly reason I though it would be a good idea to take my bike outside before I pulled the wheels off

New tires front and rear. New pads front and rear. Ditched the bark busters. Chucked on a front number board. Changed gearbox fluid. Drained the dregs of gas from tank and carb and cleaned carb and fuel filter. New plug just coz it's been a while. Polished up the frame and swingarm nice and shiny. And a jolly good clean.
She's ready for the weekend!
Couple of questions.
I've had this large exhaust guard on my bike for a while now, decided to take it off and clean out the crap inside it. Turns out I have a crack in my exhaust pipe which is about 10CM long. Any ideas on how to fix it? Weld it?
Also considering the NZD is 70c against the USD you can pick up some pretty mint deals. Was thinking about one of those FMF gnarly pipes. Anyone have one? pros/cons?
And also I was going to make the most of the dollar and get a chain and sprocket kit from the same online store. Whats the most long lasting brand of sprockets/chains? Not caring about the weight.
Cheers!

the gnarly is the same as the fatty except made from thicker steel.
and both are bottom end pipes, which seem to kill top end and over rev.
so might be good to have both, stock and gnarly, depending on what sort of riding your doing
as for chain and sprockets. any sprockets made of steel seem to outlast any aluminium ones. supersprox, ironman, renthal twinring etc are all steel sprockets. cost a bit more though.
chains, any X ring type chain seems to be the longest lasting at the moment
my $0.02
we may just go where no ones been
Sweet. Cheers for that!
If I was to get a Gnarly pipe, would I be inclined to change the sprocket size from the origional 50t?
The tow vehicle has finally been looked at. Blown head gasket on 3rd cylinder. Bit of warping. No cracking that is visible with the naked eye.
Warping has been planed out. Valves/pistons look ok. Bit of coolant in cylinder 3. Runs off a cam chain, and water pump/radiator is in good shape. Fingers crossed new head gasket will sort it out.
Not too much water in oil, suggests rings still in good shape. Will do an oil change or two and see how it goes.
Really been frustrating not being able to ride. My body is going to be shock, I think my fitness has slipped a fair bit. Also, missed the last two rounds of the 2-man. Sucks :P
