Auckland - rolling protest ride

Hey all,

Just a quick reminder for peeps who are new to reasonable distance group riding with no stops. (this will be reminded on Saturday).

Saturday is looking like being a scorcher, so please ensure you are well hydrated for the ride. Coffee is not good for hydration before the ride.

The nana in me also suggests a good breakfast prior to the ride - as per the other thread, group riding requires concentration and being hungry and dehydrated takes your mind off the job at hand.

I'd also suggest not getting on the turps too hard the night before and try to get a reasonable night's sleep

If you want to show how good your wheelies, stoppies or burnouts are, please do not attend this gathering or ride
If you have any doubt about your ability to restrain yourself and act like a grown up, please do not attend this gathering or ride.

Our intention is to show Wellington that a big chunk of voting-age people are not happy about the proposed levy increases, and to maintain the (generally positive) public support that we have. As well as bring some happiness into sick children's lives.

In order to do this, we need to behave like adults.

You guys end up pretty much where I live. I'm wondering if I should just meet you there. Can't really see the point of spilling 30 bucks of gas going up and down the motorways on an R1. Whose keen for a real charity protest ride at 200kmph up 16 after? lol

Mom contacted Phil Goffs office yesterday to invite him along. He phoned today to say yes he can do that, he will probably join us on the Southern on our way back into the City.

TV1 are showing a bit of interest also....

Dropped a few more (maybe 40 or so) flyers today @ the downtown parking building - was good to see a few BRONZ Bikeoi flyers had already been dropped on some of the bikes there too.

all told including where I've handed a stack out, I've proably released about 250 or so flyers into the wild for Saturday (and no bike who stops next to me @ lights is safe from one either - lol)
