have a look a my response - I'm not sure the CBD on a Sunday is a great target - it's pretty empty, especially early in the morning...

Mission bay has its advantages though - if nothing else then it should provide a good photo op.

Our biggest hurdle here is that the public think we've already won.

We really need our own propaganda to circulate to say why this isn't so.

I'm thinking a set of FAQs - need help with the answers and more questions... not really got time till much later tonight to construct eloquent answers (or more questions) help me out guys...

    Q. Haven't the bikers already won this argument - I though the government backed down?
    A. (the truth about the fact that the gummint's position hasn't actually changed)

    Q. Bikers should pay their way - why am I subsidising you?
    A(. Usual arguments?)

    Q. Why are you taking up car parks, can't you keep all the bikes together
    A. (demonstrating affect of bikers using their cars etc)

    Q. Why hurt local businesses taking away car spaces
    A. (We're not - we're actually helping by buying stuff)

    Q. This doesn't affect me
    A. (Increasing levies across the board, privatisation, who's next etc)

    Q. How can I help?
    A. (Maybe wishful thinking! - but maybe link for donations etc)

    More/better questions

Also there will need to be two flyers - we need a biker one (to advertise) and a public one to hand out on the day. CalNZ's flyer was waaaaaaaaaaaay to wordy to be read before it was binned.

Maybe an angle for the "whats in it for the bikers" flyer would be a debrief of what we've learned since the bikeoi - have we got more to say? Ixion - can you brief people of what went on behind closed doors?

    Thumbs up Mission Bay

All sounds good. I am coming, Mom. Hey, just asking...why this event on the calender don't have that part where we can put our name down if we are attending. That will give a better idea on how many will be coming. Cheers

I'm thinking when we get there, 1 bike per park in the carparks, then each bike on the road parked parallel and leaving 1-1.5 bike lengths between them. (just enough so an average car can't get through, smart cars don't count as average )

EDIT: by Smart car I dont mean inteligent I mean the tiny cars that are the same size as a bike haha

But 'smart bikers' are above average in thier thinking, and thats just the idea, one bike per car park.

Any chance a flyer can be attached on here for handing out on the day? I could sneak several dozen through the company printer....but would be black and white.

I'm wondering if meeting at 8:30 is a little late considering the cafe's start opening at 7:00 I'll plan on getting there about 7:30ish, suppose I could 'break down' in the entrance.......I know I know is GSX1400 and never likley to happen, people wouldn't belive me

    Early breakfast attempts

    Hi PhantasmNZ,

Yes that would be me. Must say I agree with your thoughts re: CBD - am glad to see someone who clearly has a far better idea on these things is putting together this event (Mission Bay) - looking forward to a bite and coffee on Sunday with (hopefully) a good turn our of bikers.

Also, Chasio mentions "I got the flyer in a carpark off Durham Street on Friday. The buggers had been aroud and put them on top of the only official flyers allowed that day (i.e. for Maha's ride) that I had put out earlier" in the thread. I do apologise if that was the case - I specifically placed my flyers under the official ride flyers to ensure they were most visible, so unless it was moved after that time, it should have been at the bottom...

I'll do and post a flyer - but I need material and ideas for it - (being aware that they're not to be too wordy!)

Other important thing - What are we going to call it??

(I quite liked CalNz's "big breakfast" idea actually (and the media keyed into it)
