Mr Laing was found guilty of two breaches of police rules but resigned before any penalty was imposed."

Two forced out while the other two whom I'm guessing had the lesser degree of culpability stripped of rank and transferred.

Just off topic here a bit............but what happened to the cop who was booked going thru a yellow in her own time and the Union was going to pay for her defence.

Did the Uhion pay for here defence and did she get off or not.

I love listening to the dialogue on Yankee cop shows, ya never hear the shitheads there saying 'fuck you' and 'wanker' etc to the cops - it's 'yessir' and 'sorry sir' and the tension/assault level seems waay down compared to NZ.
NZ and Aus seem similar in attitude. I have wondered what it is that makes crims in US so respectful.

I thought is was a jury and they never make a mistake. It will be interesting to see if the QC agrees with the jury decision when it comes to handing out compensation.

Still no 'real world' penalty. Ok, you can bleat on about career etc but where's the fine, the PD or whatever Joe Public would have got? Nowhere, that's where.

I still say they wouldn't give a fuck and I still say they won't change. That sort of behaviour is (most likely) in their blood.
As for discipline, see post 97.

Joe Public doesn't get a fine or punishment from the courts if 12 fellow Joe Publics find them not guiltyr. Infact Joe Public wouldn't end up out of a job either.

Ignore mark, hes suffering a terminal case of misplaced anger. Being seriously owned and the threat of litigation [not to mention constant nagging from the wife], would do that to anyone.

The states has serious issues that are not being sorted by either the appearance of respect, or overwhelming numbers of inmates that grow at an exponential rate. What it says for their system is violence begets violence, and that being to scared to voice an opinion should in no way be confused for respect.

Great way to treat a 'patient'!..........Obviously the guy needed medical attention and not a beating.

Geez, Scummy - go easy - you'll make yourself sound ike a redneck..!

I do however, strongly agree with "too many rights with no responsibility". It's a two sided coin. Rights are balanced by responsibilities. Or should be.

Absolutely.......................but herin lies the problem...............rights are only 'exercised' when someone is abusing them.

You really should get out in the real world.

Rights are exercised all the time by those who dont want to do as they are required by proper statute to do.

A case that comes to mind is Scott Watson who exercised his rights.
