what I wanted to know was if somebody had experience with insurance after an accident which wasn't your fault, but there were no witnesses.
The one who ran me of the road didn't stop either.. I reported it to police.
Will insurance pay or probably not?
I'm beginning to think you have displeased the biker gods, is this number 3 or 4? if you have a spare goat around I would seriously consider .......
One thing to say.... Fully Comprehensive.
I wrote the Katana off after hitting gravel and putting it into a concrete culvert. I got up and walked away. Bike wasn't so lucky. No witnesses!
Insurance paid out the whole amount (less excess) within 5 day's.
The difference between Third Party and Fully Comp may seem quite a saving but in the long term, when you do have a drop, that's when your pocket really gets hit.
I'm only wearing black until they develop something darker
We came, We listened, And in one voice we answered
BULLSHIT!! BULLSHIT!! BULLSHIT!! BULLSHIT!! BULLSHIT!!
yea.. got fully comprehensive.. I will call the insurance monday. let's see what they tell me
Sucks about the crash Matt, although I'm glad to hear you walked away. Was looking forward to doing some weekend rides in winter with you and the others and I'm just glad you'll be around rather than in hospital.
If you have comprehensive then the company will pay out. However the excess will be unbelievably high - possibly higher than the cost of repairs. Depending on the damage you may want to look up some parts online and put them on yourself. If you decide to go this route PM me and I'll be happy to give you a hand - that's what I did when I dropped my ZZR (although mine had a lot more plastic on it than yours...)
Because you're on a learner liscence your excess will be higher than usual. Possibly also higher based on your age. Best of luck though.

Yup trust me I learnt this lesson from a stupid innocuous knee popping sound while playing sport. All of a sudden your attitude to life and sports and being actuve just has to change. You should ALWAYS be thankful of walking away. There is a fine line between bump on the head and brain damage...
You may not have money now, but you will, and steel can be replaced.
Insurance companies do pay out easy, you just gotta find the right ones, Swann and Vero have been totally hassell free for me. Heard horror's about NAC State and Tower though.
And yes I realise that Swann is underwritten by the same company that has a poor reputation through NAC and Tower, but ulimately it's up to Swann on if they pay out claims, so don't bash the underwriter haha.
Who are you insured through anyway?
I binned 1 week ago and would have been much happier if the bike had more damage & me less. It will be 5 more weeks till I can even think about riding again (broken bone in hand) and any damage to the bike short of a complete write off would take about 2 weeks tops to fix. Bike only had bent foot brake & scuffs on pipes etc.
Insurance companies are there to take your money, not to give it back again...sadly. If you can't hold up the cause of the accident by the coat collar then it's down as your fault, they can't pass the claim on to a third party. Good luck, and heal quickly.
The perversity of the universe tends towards a maximum
