The only reason for that is that im a lazy tight fucker, too lazy to work on the machine at the track & too tight to tow it the length of the country to break it in first practice.
I spent over 300 hours on it after i bought it "race ready" before i used it.
Its the small things, Using EFI hose & clamps even though i dont need to & they cost three times as much, New bolts & nylock nuts everywhere, Loctite, wire & nylocs on everything, metal valve caps, proper breather & bottle, etc etc etc.
The paint isint flash yet, but that dosent seem to be slowing us down so far.
Yeah, you've only got to look here to see it isn't true
Another meeting held up and the sidecars weren't there so we can't be blamed![]()
The thread can't be put back on track, it's a shit slinging match now and I just scooped up a hand full!
off MNZ website:
"Attention all Road Race Competitors and Engine Builders:
A major oilspill which occured during a sidecar race at Hampton Downs which resulted in serious delays was caused by the replacement of a not required sensor unit with a non standard plug that was unsuitable for the purpose.
The plug used was a light steel pressing encapsulated in a rubber type compound which deformed under the heat and crankase pressure and which failed suddenly allowing most of the crankase oil to be released suddenly.
This happened at full speed down the start finish straight, because of the forces involved the machines catch tray was unable to contain the spillages.
The purpose of this bulletin is to advise all competitors, engine builders, and constructors preparing race engines that any replacement engine crankcase plugs, blanking plugs or sensors be constructed of a suitable material such as alluminium or steel and that the method of retaining the item be as the original factory installation.
Jim Doherty MNZ Technical Officer."

Ha! That's pretty funny! You think we need a bulletin from MNZ to know this!?! Do you think this information is not "common sense" for most engine builders. If this was the case for the massive delay (which it apears according to MNZ it was) surely the sidecar in question should be heavily fined and some sort of license suspension be enforced for the drivers as it was in an unfit state to take to the track?
