The whanau spent the night at the caving hut on Takaka Hill last night. So I managed to at least get a tarseal ride in there & back, came home via Upper Takaka Must say I prefer the Takaka side, the corners are more consistent and there's a bit more room to move.

Heli Run (onya Jen!) was good fun, didn't have time to stay for the auction. Must say the adventure contingent was under-represented.
    Cheers,
    Colin

I may not have been at the Heli-run but the ride over to Blenheim was fun.

Whangamoas, Rai, Queen Charlotte, Port Underwood...
    And back today via...
    Port Underwood, Queen Charlotte, Maungatapu.

    I really like these Shinko's.
Wet clay is the only problem for them so far...

    We did try
but when the Big stoped dead for the second time about 1k out of town I thought it was wise to sneak back to work and load it on a trailer
MrsJatz Ten has gone into storage today, to be rebuilt and restored at a later date and the Trumpy won't go either, dunno what the problem is (prolly something simple, but it hasn't worked for a couple of months so I just covered it up and pushed it into a corner) and I'm over fuckin around with old bikes just to keep them goin.
    Not a good w/end alround

    end of rant
But I got some more firewood

you guys aren't having nuch luck with bikes at the mo. Mind you you have done a fair bit of riding before that.

Did just under 6000k on this top end, nipped the piston over in Golden Bay the other w/end.Motor is going back to Phil to be pulled completely to pieces to get to the bottom of oil ejection issue, we don't expect to have it up and running again for at least another 18 mnths min. Did think about getting another later model XT and using the motor, but it doesn't make economic sense.
Soooo MrsJatz will end up with a late model DR probly and I'm leanin toward one too, but they're so bland

The sign shows a tramper, biker and a 4wd without a big line through it.

    That's what farkling's for!

There are other bikes though - what about a later XT or something. I reckon you'll miss the wind protection of the Big

All joking aside why not try a klr (duck, missed). There are a few the same as mine for pretty cheap on tardme. Already got a fairing and big tank etc. And they are sorta retro but not.
Right fine, get a bloody dr then.

MrsJatz'll prolly get a 650, she liked topo's drz, but found it to skittery, and couldn't see herself owning one,DR350 is another possibility. We saw the KLR's on t/me and they are o.k. but.....well...... i dunno........it's all the baggage that goes with em
As for me, I really dunno, the Big is perfect. Did you ever get on a bike that needed absolutely nothing done to the ergo's, and just felt "right". Mind you EddieB's 950 was another that felt "right". but I not sure a 950's on my shopping list

EddieB would probably just about sell it to you right now. The bike has apparently been set up hard for the road, and he's having issues getting it converted back & comfortable for his style of riding....
IT'S JUST BETTER WHEN THERE'S TWINS INVOLVED..
