They are quite quick, but if you leave free willy hanging for the next set of lights then you've got more time..

Maybe they have another reason. And maybe one day you won't be laughing when you've avoided being hit from behind after you've split to the front.

This is so funny to read.
I don't care about dragging someone at the lights. I know i can beat them so whats the point. As for the rest of the dribble i've read.....you guys really need to get a life.

Since some people are now questioning my 14sec 1/4 mile on a zxr250, i shall post up a link to the video when i get home from work(cant do it on my work computer).

-was 14.37sec@149kmh still have a timeslip too, that was with a 2.3 60ft(i can run 2.1's easy) which would = 14flat or faster.

And no, i dont ride a 250, i have one sitting in my garage doing nothing though

I have a full licence,I have a 600 as a roadbike, have a few other bikes too, have owned 150's/250's/750's etc etc.

Commodores are whales, hows it feel when youre 50k+ 5.7/6.0L v8 SS/Clubsport blah blah blah gets eaten alive by a 2.0L evo from the early 90's, or a 3k learner 250 with a bright yellow 'L' plate hanging of the back.

    Hmmmm good point.

My little bike doesn't have the acceleration to out accelerate many cars. I have to be careful about whats sitting at the front and how much space is down the side of the road if they do decide to race me.

Yes I might get hit from behind but hopefully whoever hits me is slowing down already. I guess its a calculated risk. What has more chance of happening to me? Being hit from behind or coming across a someone in a racing mood at the front of the que?

I do lane split. Just not when I'm already so close to the front.

    My 2 cents worth

    - Good on any one who rides a bike - my first bike was a 100cc Kawasaki, I now ride a Harley - everyone starts somewhere / rides what they like
    - Yeah I love my Harley BUT that doesn't make it better or worse than anything else. I have been know to call it an "antiquated piece of American junk" (always qualified with "but I love it")
    - I don't lane split - in any "battle" with a cage I'm going to end up HURT
    - Power to weight etc. I suspect that any modern 250 jappa would beat my Harley hands down - would I ride one, NO. But that doesn't mean I need to deride other people to make myself feel better.

There ends my sermon for today
I hope you realise you can get banned from Kiwibiker for calm rational posts!

If not for dragging what are traffic lights for?
Seriously, the traffic lights on on-ramps are designed for it.
    1-2-3-4-5-RACE
    1-2-3-4-5-RACE
    Repeat.

Also, ringing the shit out of 250's is awesome fun. It sounds like it's going to explode but never does, they love it.

I know of 3 riders now who have been hit by vehicles backing up from a red light - they decide they want to use a different lane instead of the one they are in to say go straight ahead instead of make that right turn and just back up to swap lanes. Of course they don't see that bright white light behind them.
In each case the bikes hadn't bothered to split because they were near the front of the queue. Never know this to happen to someone who has split to the front yet.

Yeah I hate it when it gets caught in the back wheel and ends up breaking the rims..

I have never experienced this - but then I have pretty much left the building while they are still putting the lever in gear...
