Five bucks says that every cop you have ever delt with had to stop from pissing themself laughing when dealing with you.

You would have to a no brained impatient loser with a death wish to split moving cars in any case. I'm shocked that the law actually reflects that instead of banning it outright. Assuming there is a law and it's not a myth?

Did you ever have to sit stuck in crawling harbour bridge or north western traffic with cramp in your left hand because of having to hold on/off half clutch in first gear while your fans are blasting on full as bike is already sitting on 107 degrees ??? No?

Well thats why split moving cars...

(rhetorical question i see you are from chch so you probably dont know what "traffic" is....so its good the law is there for us that dont live in a villages...)

Can you please post that in English so we lane splitters can be absolutely sure that it was your intent to be an ignorant pussy.

    Cheers

Is there such a thing as North Shore bike cops?
    Are they marked differently?
I thought bike cops worked any highway including so many k inland from the highway?
Hunting, prowling, chasing down milo and Ixion,
yes the road toll must come down
Yes we must have safer communities together...starting with Milo and Ixion, brothers in arms...or is that arms way?

I can ride my blade at walking speed without the clutch, maybe you should upgrade to the latest model

nah.. have riden it, does the same thing in traffic (and also burns oil on top of that, not to mention the other issues). But maybe its because of my differently geared sprockets...

More likely a lack of basic skills. Given that it's one of the things they test when you get a basic handling certificate, I'm suprised you can't manage it.

Are we talking about the same thing here?

iam talking about bike not being able to sit in first gear and move at 5-10km/h without having to hold a clutch a little in a stop/go traffic.... iam sorry but my blade doesnt like that speed very much but iam sure your GN is handling that speed just fine.

(not to mention the overheating, due to small radiator and fans kick in bit late)

Any who.... I asked him the law on lane splitting.

He stated that you are only legally allowed to do so if the traffic in the said lane was stationary.
Therefore if the cars in the lane you are splitting are moving you are braking the law.

He did also say that they do also understand bikers do lane split and as long as the traffic is slow and you are not going a lot faster then them they turn a blind eye. But just remember the law states the cars have to be stationary.

When I travel between cars, The best way to keep in the law is to have your indicator on and keep swapping lanes between cars therefore you are just overtaking.

    Lets be safe out there......
Jeez about friggin time someone actually got it right. After all this thread going on and on about what's law and what isn't....someone has finally come out with the correct answer. well done young man.

Well if we are going to get it right it is important that we ignore the "But just remember the law states the cars have to be stationary" bit as that is simply wrong.

If you are passing on the right (staying on the left side of the line) then it doesn't matter if the cars are moving. It is only when passing on the left (riding on the right side of the center line when lane splitting) that the cars in the right lane are supposed to be stopped (or turning right).

IMO a valid excuse for being on the right side of the line is that a car on the left swung across, forcing me to move to the right to maintain safe separation. (might work if you have mostly been in the left lane).

Anyway, why aren't cops enforcing the keep left rule so us lane splitters are provided our rightful and safe path?
