Been in there a few times to have a nosey as it's not far from work. They've got some nice bikes and the guys are really friendly and happy to chat bikes for ages, but there prices are bonkers. I was eying up building a kaff-racer based on a W650 and I could have built an almost identitcal bike to one in the shop for almost $10k less. Admittedly the guy was saying they rejet the carbs and set it up on a rolling road, but still, was a lot of pennies. Guess you're paying for the labour.

They seem to be catering for the rich late 30's/early 40's family guys who want one because they're 'cool'. Stopped by on a couple of weekends and I've never seen so many 4x4s and minted families in one spot. Must be the entire population of Remuera out for the day

That is the crowd they are aiming for. the ones that still have disposable income. the ones that don't care what the price is.
the ones that will fork out cash and not go on KB and complain about the price or how trendy it tried to be.

Not for me but they have been there for a while now so they must be selling stuff.

Bugger! I always had plans to pick up a cheap W650 and custom it. Now the prices will rise!

One way to look at it - heaps of people drop 30k on a stock Harley or the like so 10 less for a built custom is possibly their angle. Heck have you seen the price of a Big Dog chopper or similar - mega-bucks.

$90 for a T - out of my league, but I am always amazed how many people pay that for one with a Nike label!

Nah its a Sydney thing.
I went to original shop @ camperdown when I lived there.
Bought a shirt, had some food, coffee etc.
Would go back an have another coffee - but as for buying another shirt, I can do my own out of aussie for cheaper.
However you should realize that people are willing to pay 100+K for a chopper, so paying $22K for a cafe is considered cheap. Especially when you compare with production prices for the likes of Triumph, Norton, Harley etc..... so not too expensive

Yep - build one yourself and factor every last minute you worked on it...including the thinking and going down the road to get parts.Then add in rent and insurance and.....and .....and.People would say you charge too much.

Mate i had a bloke turn up at home today to show me some mods to his 1800 Honda,first up was an extremely well built fly screen thing,very nice but there was simply nothing to it,any oncoming air would simply laugh at its $600 price tag and carry on,next up was a V Max type bolt on intake which made the thing a few feet wider and at $800 at least would keep the wind off his right knee,last but not by any means least a can only an inch or 2 shorter than the Titanic thing that was on there oem but instead of hiding the sound of a motor from the dark ages simply made sure the whole world was reminded of it,after spending all that dosh he sat back with crossed arms and a content smile as it sat there sounding worse than even a Subaru.Amazing what people will buy.

been there once.........have to say the food was pretty average and pot of tea lukewarm............enjoyed lookin at the bikes and bling etc tho and worth another visit............

The place works nicely for me. I don't OD on going there, but The Chicken and Pear Salad and an orange juice is just right for a working lunch and it's a good place to do motorcycle business.
Apart from that - it's just a cool place to hang - surrounded by motorcycles and cool stuff.
If you can't appreciate the finer points of it all - they won't miss you. :-P

I will agree it's good for a coffee and a peruse of magazines and bikes but for the "custom" work they do it seems a bit expensive, a lot of the changes look like bolt-ons to me, I still yearn after greasy, oil smelling workshops but maybe I'm just getting senile.

Their pea and ham soup is excellent. And there is an oily workshop out the back. With wrenches who can wrench a DBD34. That's respect right there.

The owner of this buisness is a good friend. He is also the biggest property developer Single Share holder in NZ History, as well as a Total Bike Nutter

He is doing what he wants to do with his money

His W/shop Manager, Dave Anderson, is ONE of the very very best mechanics in New Zeraland full stop

Deus ex Machina, donated one of there custom bikes to a YOUTH Charirty, and recieved $40-000 for that charity

That shop and attitude, is the very best in New Zealand
