Looking at that date it may be better to post closer to xmas as a lot of us will be doing the dustybutt or away on holiday. If I'm around (which I may be for the beach races)

I'm happy to have them here & can pick ya up from the airport.

Unless of course they're coming from overseas - they'll have to be cleared by customs before I'll take them If no joy here any bike shops will help you out- we're good like that down here.
BTW my mate did that route the other year - with his 8yr old daughter on the back of his tandem!! Now thats impressive!

So take this as a public announcement I'm racing the Klenere in the beach races - who's gonna try & beat me? Huh feeling lucky punks?

If they were still running the permit system you would have received an information pack telling you all mtb tracks are out of bounds, as are their bridges & other paraphernalia.

And be aware the forest isn't generally open during the week due to logging operations, only weekends during daylight hours.

They aren't running a permit system hence no permission for entry, call them and ask.

    What are those numbers, then?

Even if it is a public road, it's not necessarily legal to use it if the forest managers have "temporarily" closed it for years and years on end, like they have in Sharlands.

The numbers are for the major forest company managers in your area. Action Forest Management and Nelson Forest Ltd. You could always ask your local motorcycle club?

Talked to our friendly neighbourhood Nelson Forest management tonite. Absolutely no problems going into their forests ( rai valley, golden downs, Hori bay, Mt duppa) unless there is harvesting going on in a particular area - then there'll be signage out. The majority of gates aren't locked & if there are public access roads access is open.
Of course the responsible thing to do is call the 0800 number & let them know your plans.

You won't be last. There was an awful number of expensive machinery that couldn't handle riding a few kms along a beach without breaking.

Ok maybe not expensive but sophisticated in it's mongrel way.

BTW I watched Lester make a plasticine mold up for his TZ750(?) barrels & pour a rubber solution into the ports that hardens into a rubberised shape of the ports. He can somehow take dimensions of the 'shape' of the ports & feed it into the computerer. This shows him where the mixture sprays into the cylinder in relation to where it should be sprayed for optimum combustion. ( I think IIRC close as to the exhaust side to meet the back wave from the exhaust??) From this the ports can be manipulated to get better performance. I was pretty impressed with the technology involved -from plasticine to software. Not something I get to see everyday.

I think on the 2nd or 3rd Jan after the port races. If I can get around the corners I'm gonna roost ya (thats a big IF)

We're still at the plasticine to floor stage, here.

I'm planning to race again this year - both bikes, woot! Hopefully won't have such a big stack this time.
    Cheers,
