    Narva Blue Power headlamp bulbs

We just fitted these this afternoon to both our bikes. I was cheesed off with the poor performance of my standard headlight bulbs for open road night riding so we went looking for something better.

Balu bought a set of the Ultra Blues which I trialled last night, only to be disappointed by the fact that the light spill was no greater. Sure, it was brighter but I was looking for something that would actually give a longer beam. Went back and bought the blue power ones and holy spicy meatballs! they were awesome. The downside was that quite a bit of our ride out to Clevedon tonight was in fog (some patches as bad as my horror ride from Tauranga) so between that and my fogged up visor it wasn't exactly a dream ride. Balu had spontaneously fitted his pinlock visor onto his Shoei earlier this afternoon and it certainly paid off!!

Can't wait to go for another night ride, perhaps minus the fog next time, oh and I'll remember to cat crap my visor first.....

Read some not so great comments about the blue powers on a commodore website but I found them to be a huge improvement on my un-named factory fitted bulbs. Balu found them to be also better than his factory fitted philips ones too.

Anyone else had experience with them?

not with that bulb, but ones that cast a blue tinged light are crap. Look for +50% or +90% bulbs, like hellas. They don't last quite as long, but massive improvement

One disadvantage with the blue bulbs..... the headlight isn't quite as visible to other road users by day

I sell these bulbs to the automotive industry & to the public. I have done a heck of alot of homework regarding the performance levels of these bulbs vs Led, Hid & other well known brands. I also happen to own a 94 Holden Commodre (with the pathetic thin headlamps) & an 88 MR2 to which I have fitted these Narva Blue Power bulbs, soon to put them into my Hyosung also. Both my Commodore & MR2 show significantly better light on both high & low beams & saves me using the 100/150w that were blowing my relays

Narva Blue Power 3750 kelvin - 2000 lumen

The light while having a slight blue tinge is very clean but also still full of volume & have been designed to give roughly 80% more light output than a standard H* globe. These bulbs are a compromise between High Kelvin - bright white upto around 5000k when it starts to become very blue & loses all volume - & High Lumen - giving the yellow high volume light which can lok very hazey & dull. After alot of research on the Commodore, Ford & Mitsi forums around the world I came to the conclusion that short of upgrading to a full HID setup (read: very bloody expensive) these are the best bulbs on the market - this is in no way a biased opinion, I am very fussy about my headlights.

Unfortunately Narva market these as "Blue" power giving the buyer the impression that the light will look blue, it simply does not, the blue filter on the bulb is only to tone down the level of yellow haze. Ignore the whingers on the Commodore forums they have been bitching ever since they could buy +50s & HID, it will never change lol

I may try to do a vid of my change of bulbs on my bike so everyone can see the difference, but may be a little while yet. Ride safe all

Another fan of the +80's and also Power bulbs. Great bulbs and awesome delivery service. Just blew my first +80, I reckon I got over 20k out of it - good thing I've got spares...

Not sure how the power blue compare but I ran some Narva +50's and they are nowhere near as good as the Phillips +80's and also were fragile - I blew quite a few of them before changing to the Phillips.

..and thats exactly why I haven't gone near them. Well that and them being responsible for the cheap shit you find in a gas station when you need a bulb in a hurry.

I'm a phillips +50 fan (and +80 when you can find the darn things).

DONT buy a full HID setup for your bike.

I've had two setups nicked, and both times I was coming down the nicely lit streets to home, and realized I had no beam when I finally went down the drive.

    Can you elaborate on that?

Nicked as in "stolen" and in motion? - wow! Some skills shown by the thieves there!

    Nicked: Stolen.
One from a supermarket car park in New Plymouth, the other outside work (I can see my bike from there)

I got the whole setup, ballast, wiring etc.. Cost me a pretty penny. But those lights are pretty distinctive and given a few minutes away from the bike, some shit will steal them.
