Paved Roads are just another example of Wasted Taxpayer Dollars
Fun is all relative, right. Personally the only reason why I'd want to be cramped up on a tiny, gutless 125 for 1000km is for the challenge of getting it done in 24 hours. Never again!!!
I am heading up to Tauranga this weekend to pick up D's new Transalp... So we have the bikes, she has the skills, now I just have to convince her she wants to do the ride.
BTW I'm with TA regarding trying to get up the Carracktown track - I reckon it'd be... interesting. The direction the route went last time worked for me, but we were on a different timetable to the others.

I will convince the lovely Mrs SB that she will have an awesome adventure with Mrs Jatz,me and maybe some other female riders for company...
Its 12 day since Ive had surgery on my second hand for carpel tunnel syndrome so will be riding again in about a month
D can join Sam and I getting some practice rides in![]()
What model and year of transalp you getting the good lady skinny?
Phew! 850 chilly km later the Transalp is safely in my garage. It's a 2001 with 34km on the clock, super tidy and a good service history. It had a Ventura pack rack and bag, which will be on Trademe from this week if anyone's interested. It came with hotgrips unfitted, so I spent an unpleasant couple of hours trying to get the fairings apart at my motel in Mt Maunganui, before saying "Sod it, I don't need hot grips". WRONG!!
Only dramas with it are the spare key doesn't disarm the immobiliser (anyone had this problem?) and indicators don't always work first go (dirty contact in the switch methinks). Totally stoked with the bike, and hope Mrs B. will be too (she's home in the old country at the moment).
Cheers

Maungatapu access should be no problem, it's open for bikes now, if you can get around/under the gates or find the caretaker at home.
For the DB, we'd just have to co-ordinate unlocking of the gates to make it easy for everyone and especially bigger bikes.
Cheers,
Colin
