    Finding some wet stuff...

I went out to play today.

Well not so much play, as going in search of the wet stuff falling from the sky.

I awoke this morning to heavy rain and thought...yeeha, I'm going for a ride and I shall see just how good my new little rain jacket and pants are.

By the time mother arrived and took the boys and then a further 10 minutes to put everything on (time to warm the bike) the rain had stopped.

I felt so ripped off! Can you believe it.....what idiot gets disappointed because the rain stops! Geez, some people are right bonkers.

Anyway, I was off, ....went for a wee jaunt around some streets in suburbia, not liking all these new houses with no privacy and all looking the same....over that real fast.

Off to find some country roads. Think I did what is commonly known as "threading", not much opportunity for that malarkie around here, the roads just dont' have that much traffic, but hell, it was rather invigorating!

Got the Genie juices flowing and made for a fun wee time.
All of a sudden my body kicked into some high gear and the flow hit. Is that what they call the 'zone'?
Whatever, every part of me rode my bike.

Most wonderful thing was the rain started, it poured down, was I cold, no, was I wet...NO! It worked, I'm very pleased about that.

Mission accomplished so home to wash my bike, re-attach the "L" for Thursday's mission and give the The Little Beast a well deserved polish.

It was 1973, so the memory's a wee bit hazy, and I doubt what I did back then would be a lot of good to you....

You know...I could have done mine about then too and was too damn lazy to do it so rode without one. In those days it was 5 questions and you had it.

    Actually..I was a couple of years after that...about 1981

Ha ha! Yup! I had a BSA 350 B31 but it was problematic to start, (!), so borrowed my co-worker's C50 Honda. The nice Policeman followed me up the street, walking on the footpath while I rode through an intersection, did a u-turn and then went down a short side street to do a hill start. Unfortunately the wee Honda didn't have the power to do the hill start so I had to paddle-foot it up!

Then he just asked me questions until I got 5 right, gave me my full licence!

Mine was a bit more recent, did it in 2004 on a slightly dodgy 1981 GSX250, I thought i should finally get around to it after having my learners for 17 years.

I just had a guy follow me in a car and had to watch the mirrors for him indicating and flashing lights to stop etc. With me not being a spotty 16 year old he was pretty casual and basically told me if I stayed upright and didn't break any laws I'd pass. Only took about 25 minutes and afterwards he apologised for sending me down a street that was being remodelled and resembled a river bed, and congratulated me on my avoidance skills and hand gestures when a bus pulled out as I was passing.

Main things to watch are speed and making sure you turn your head when checking side streets and changing lanes so it's obvious you're doing it.

    Good luck
Riding cheap crappy old bikes badly since 1987

They weren't like those bikes on Transformers 2 by any chance? The ones that change shape and suddenly start shooting.

Good luck for Thursday. You will pass no doubt with flying colours
