Just to make you feel better about this Genie, you have about 2000 members following you.

When I did my bike licence in 1969, I was told to ride 200 metres down the road, do a u turn and come back and park, while the cop stood on the footpath and watched. It took all of 3 minutes and I walked away with a full licence.

I think you are probably a much better rider than I was at that time.

Good luck, even though you don't need it.

    Rick.

    Good luck for Thursday Genie.
Make sure you can do u-turns confidently without putting your feet down.
Indicate for 3 seconds before doing anything and definitely exagerate the head checks!!! the ear piece thingame is no biggie either...just get it really comfortable before you take off.
ALSO - Stop and put your foot down proper for Stop signs and be aware of what is around you. The hardest part I found was the hazard identification...only really because there were fuck all of them around when I did mine! But I did manage to name a few anyway - I think I cracked the guy up a bit because I identified way more hazards than he was looking for He told me in the end it was ok to say there weren't any - to which I replied that stopping me to ask for non existant hazards was just mean and smartarse on it thankfully even with that little bit of lip I passed...in pissing bloody cold rain I might add - hope the weather is better for you

BTW if you are sitting it in Porirua it's a standard loop track they take you around....you might feel more confident once you've ridden it a few times.

We all know, and you know that you will be just fine. Good luck miss! Its a very exciting feeling, after recently going through it myself.

Remember, if you are ever up for a road trip you have a whole bunch of awsome gals (and guys) here to hit the roads with.

    xx

Thank you ...you are such a beautiful young lady and yes.....i know, get off my butt and get over the water... will HAVE to do a weekend very soon.

I'm itching to ride your roads, all my new friends on FB are only confirming my need to pop on over...plus I'm interested in some track day that some weirdo on a green bike keeps mentioning....

I just got mine bout 2 weeks ago and it was really easy. You just have to go in confident and ride like you normally do.. except slower. As long as you don't get nervous you can't really fail, they're just making sure you aren't a completely useless rider so not much is expected just stick to the road rules.

FIRSTLY: This isn't aimed at Genie OR Juda.

However it strikes me that the comment above highlights part of the problem with our rider licensing system. This is after all the test that 'if passed' means you are unrestricted in your riding hours while being able to legally get yourself on a bigger and more powerful bike....something has to change if that attitude is rife.

Frankly I would rather that we were actually "TESTED" not just observed not falling off and obeying the road rules correctly.

I should add that I was more "tested" during my practise runs with a riding instructor than I was in my restricted test...the hardest thing I had to do SKILLS WISE was a u-turn in a tight street without putting my feet down. I woud've thought an emergency braking test might have been on the cards too....

    Hi genie & all,
Don't worry so much, if 'd fallen off my bike as much in waking life as I have in my dreams, I'd be typing this Stephen Hawking styles I was 40 when I finally got round to getting a bike license & the tester couldn't crack a smile if it came in a shell. I thought she was gonna fail me just cause she could, especially after I kinda failed to follow instructions properly, (it's a boy thing) Oh yeah, just remembered, I failed to get a pass the first time I went for my restricted cause I'd lost my wallet in the pub the night before & they wouldn't let me even try (also a boy thing). But in the end it really was easy even though it was pissing rain.
Have a couple of vinos tonight & you'll be sweet.

P.S Don't spend too much of your hard earned cash on bling for the Wee Black Beasty, cause as soon as you have your full license you'll be starting to think about 600cc + so save save save.

    Good luck
