As for dangerous imagine approaching a fast wide hairpin type corner running in a bit wide as you dont know the track or lines.........and a Porsche 996 slips up the inside under brakes. Then coming over a very fast blind hill with the front wheel pointing skywards .....only to catch sight of a 52 seat tour bus parked on the track so punters can dis-embark to take pics of your wheelie (complete with "oh shit eyes thru the visor)
Now thats what you call dangerous................. a couple of my experiences back in the 90,s ........ we made it a stopover on our european bike trips.
72 corners for 8 quid a lap (pre euro) ...... put it on your bucket list.

Ahh - the bad ole days aye, wernt they fun :-).

Of course as a general rule the gravel traps as used extensivley in New Zealand are built to slow down cars not bikes with riders tumbling through them.......So in theory even they arnt really acceptable.- But where does one stop ?

At minimum bottle/bale the wall, or airbags ideally.

At Pukekohe they do their best to secure the base of the bag with in the small amount of dirt that they have there to prevent riders sliding beneath them & into the fence behind - not sure if thats achievable at Hampton ?

Sounds good, dirt on the main straight/corner. Might even be able to use it like a berm. Now where is the old Harley XR.

Agreed, you can't bubble wrap everything, people will still get hurt. I don't think anyone is realistically trying to prevent that, but we can do our best to stop people dying through unnecessary dangers.

Oh yeah One of the my favourite UK tracks has that ,,,,Rockingham where you use some of the 1/2 mile oval banking........ awesome screaming along at top of bank with bars sraping the wall.
If you want to see zero run off watch a lap of BSB at Cadwell Park over the mountain and then thru the series of kinks into "barn" where there is NO run off on a 90 degree right hander.

It doesn't look too bad...how fast would you be going through here? And is that catch fencing and stuff I can see?

The corner in question is at the top left of picture........... looks like they have added a small concrete area at corner exit. Used to be zero run off and a concrete wall which either launched the rider over it or dumped both bike and rider in the middle of the turn depending on their entry speed.
It is not a quick corner but as the exit is steeply down hill it was a favourite too dive down the inside and slingshot out down the hill before the rider taking the conventional line knew what was happening. A brave and if succesful move this would give you yards into the next faster right hander which now looks like it has some kind of catch fencing too.
It was 10 years since i rode Cadwell and im sure the HSE (OSH) have been at work.
Bloody awesome track all the same.

Here are FIM's regulations for a WSBK circuit.

According to the 029.7.1 rule, there must be at least 30 WCs, and at least 10 of those for the ladies.

The muppet comment was a laugh at the actual real-world likelhood of the hill re-design option ever being a reality.
Other more realistic options are probably very achievable.
IMO the hill is a cool part of the track - although i am yet to see these new(ish) grid markers etc ??? & there effect in the wet.
