....BEARS Winter Series down here has a CAMS class, mainly PC jappies...a Bucket Class...Streetstocks, Motards can run at these meetings...we all get to play and its a fantastic way to race all year round ....doesnt matter too much about the politics or their particular club ethos....they get a class of their own at Greymouth , Nelson and maybe Wyndham....we all try to get along well and it all works out even better....and joe public loves their machinery....although it seems to be a Ducati fest these days...roll on SOT....

I am referring to the HOBKNOBS whom only want get some "guzzi" track time.

I still believe you should swim with the sharks, or stay out of the water. None of this special needs class BS.
Neither did I. But hey...at least the BEARS crew are out there having fun!

Blardy hell, as usual folks find a way of taking it all too seriously. I wasn't having a winge about BEARS, just wasn't sure if the point of the class has kinda of been lost.

I can't help thinkin' I've missed the point instead. Kinda makes me wish the BEARS scene was stronger up here.....nah, phuk that, it's bad enough being beaten by modern Jappa's, let alone some old bugger on a bevel Ducati.

Quite true - looks like you touched a nerve as far as some of the NI racers are concerned. Down here the serious racers who complained about losing track time to an "irrelevant" class would have the same whinge about 200 plus riders turning up to Canterbury club days. BEARS has a very useful function here in providing extra club days for classes which would have trouble doing stand alone meetings as CAMsec has explained.
You must of course try and do the Sound Of Thunder - if only for the novelty of racing for real prize money.....

Fuck Yeah !! Its a great event.
Just wandering around the public bike park - one year I saw a PAIR of pristine Triumph Hurricanes - probably the coolest looking Triumph ever made (and that includes my lovely 675 )

Anyway - back to the question - I always thought that the main reason for BEAR's was so that guys who had spent shitloads of time and money getting their old Norton, BSA etc.etc. singles to go and handle didn't have to suffer the indignity of getting their arse kicked by some spotty youth on an H2. ( I missed the Britten connection even though I read the book ?)

I got the 675 specifically so I could enter into F1 F2 and BEARS - I am trying to make up for some of the racing I missed between 1974 and 2008 when I was "taking a break" (as actors like to say) Thats over 30 years so I will probably have to keep going 'till the 675 qualifies as a post classic

Why did God make Moto Guzzis?
So Sportsters could beat something on a Race Track.

It'd need to be a pretty fucking quick well ridden Sportster to beat the Guzzis I've seen racing
