    Hey Dino,
I see a wossner sticker on your headlight shroud, have you put one of their pistons in your XR and if so what do you think?
I'm looking at putting new rings in my XR soon but haven't found anyone who has OEM rings here in NZ, might have to import from Japan.
If piston needs replacing I have seen Wossner pistons advertised on trademe thru motoworx so was thinking of getting one from them, your thoughts??
    Cheers Matt

For quality i dont think you can beat the Wossner, The dude at waikato motor reconditions said it was an empressive looking piston of high quality. i think its great ive had no problems with it and they support all the oversize up to 5mm os . i got mine from these guys http://www.motoxparts.co.nz/motoxspa...07&category=93 it worked out cheaper than ordering from the states as these guys did a bulk order every couple of months, plus it was a shit load cheaper and better quality than the Honda slug. this is just IMHO.

Sooo yeah bro good piston, got sick of bluewing $$$$$ and time. the bloke at motoxparts is good for a chat he knows his shit so hes got some good advice...

Thanks for the info Dino, I'll soon crack the engine casing and see what's in my box of chocolates!
Out of interest did you replace camchain and intakes valves and if so where did you get them?

camchain was done around 4k before rebuild, will look at vavles maybe in another 10,000kms. most of the bits n pieces are from bike bandits, but some of the seals and bearings i sorced local and of course the wossner from MXparts. Actually mate i recall from memory that he had ordered more XR pistons as there were a few popping up on terdme, he might still have some in stock.

I have been emailing motoxparts this week, he does have wossner piston and rings in stock now, problem is I'm not sure whether I need a new piston til I open her up, might only need new rings. They don't stock rings to fit OEM piston.
The other worry is that it is using a bit of oil yet nil blue exhaust smoke so may not be rings???

Oil leak/ case venting oil mist into airbox, or possibly valve guide seals, (the later normally shows up as a bit smoky first thing from cold though.
Wossners are good/great, but if you use one tell the machinist to bore to the EXACT wossner specs. They have a different clearance requirement than Wiseco etc. MHO

That rings a bell cause guys grab the crankcase breather oil separator (plastic conical thingame) from the XR650R and stick it on the KTM 950's. They suffer from a minor version of this issue. Have a look in your airbox and make sure it is not got engine oil in it.
