If you can point to damage happening during an aftershock they will accept it as a new claim. I have lodged one 10 days ago for damage to our heat pump. Just waiting for the assessor to get in touch. Damage probably happened during the big quake but helpful claims person said it must have been 'due to an aftershock' as it was past the three months since 4 Sept . There are two aftershocks (one Oct, one Nov) that they are accepting claims for.

Check out your heat pumps boys and girls. There have been a few damaged. We only discovered ours because I had arranged for it to have it's regular service. Heating was fine but it was the coolerating function that is stuffed and cant be fixed (parts no longer available).

Put a piece of wood, or something similar in front of and behind the rear wheel. Ideally it will be angled so you can jam it under the tyre (but without lifting the tyre of the ground).

Ahh ok, my stand takes the rear wheel off the ground, but is chocking it also good?

I take it you're putting it on the main stand then? To be honest, I wouldn't be doing that as it is more likely to topple over, ie either direction sideways or forwards off the stand. On it's sidestand there is less chance for it to topple over sideways (obviously can't go to the left, and it will take a fair effort to make it jump to the right), although it can still roll forward. However, your back tyre will be on the ground so you can now 'chock' the rear tyre, as in d's photos above.

Like I said back a page Gibbo, side stand... as our bikes sit side by side I was proping the end bike (they can only fall one way) and putting carpet between them.

Harley's have a neat kick stand. It locks once the bike is on it so the bike can't roll off it. They must have a patient on it, but then again the "the others" must sell a lot of body parts because bikes can roll off a standard kick stand.

On another topic the 3rd (yes 3) windscreen for my car that was broken in September is sitting at Heathrow airport waiting for the snow to clear and space on the next plane.
    Just another leather clad Tinkerbell.

Being yank it'll be a health and safety thing - they don't want to risk getting sued by someone who broke their back trying to pick half a ton of cast iron.
The views expressed above may not match yours - But that's the reason my Dad went to war - wasn't it?
Life's journey is not to arrive at the grave safely in a well preserved body, .... but rather to skid in sideways, totally worn out,... shouting "man, what a ride"!!!

Sorry, I probably wasn't very clear. On the 4th of Sept, my bike fell over and that was only on its side stand. It fell to the right even though it was leaning pretty decently to the left.

So now I have a paddock stand that I bought from Budget Motorcycle Spares, not the bobbin one, but the one that lifts it up with the swingarm things on both sides of the bike.

    Kind of like this one:

but that one looks a bit more flimsy and cheap from first glimpse.

As did most, reason... cos the bike also moves forward when rocking, as it goes forward on the stand it stands up, hence the reason to chock... stick with ya paddoc stand if ya happy, is beter than a center stand.

    PS: SD, Valkyrie = 100hp Harley = 67hp hahahahaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa...

What i don't understand is if you already had cracks from before the cut off why didn't you lodge a just in case claim? That is what the levies you pay are for.

    No need for chocks.

Put the bike in gear;push it forward until it stops (clutch out);lower it onto it's sidestand.
