Germans were not stereotyped "Achtung! Gott in Himmel" buffoons either.

As far as I know (not having been there) it was pretty historically accurate.

limited special effects compared to todays epics.

While you're on old war movies, there was also "A Bridge Too Far" about Operation Market Garden.
Hey you! Been rifling thru my DVD collection?

    Keep on chooglin'

That f**ked with my head something chronic (which also had something to do with it), I'd been living under a rock so had no idea about it when the missus brought it home on Video. When it changed into a Vampire movie I kept waiting for his halucination to end, and waiting, and waiting.

Then the movie finished, and the credits rolled, I was pissed off for days.... and still won't watch it again. Although I did really enjoy it as I was watching it.

Nah, just old, with a fairly good long-term memory. (short term memory, however...)
it's not a bad thing till you throw a KLR into the mix.

"Battle of Los Angeles" - what a piece of shit - Warehouse ads on TV have better acting and higher production values.

Storyline borrowed (stole outright) from virtually every "aliens to earth" movie you can think of - independence day especially.

Hopeless acting, stereotype characters, crap CGI effects - maybe this was some film school project.

Kept watching thinking it might have been a spoof movie along the lines of "Flying High" but no.

    A Bridge Too Far (1977)

Flawless illustration, all-star cast (Michael Caine, Sean Connery, Gene Hackman, Anthony Hopkins, and Robert Redford!), and epic display. Not sure about drama but this film is really grand... and it's a late 70's film. Shame, some modern WWII films don't even come close to this. However, using other choice of music could've made it more suspenceful for some scenes.

A Bridge Too Far is a grand war film.

9.0/10 for War Film rating, 7.5/10 for General Film rating.

On A Personal Note: How the hell did they filmed the paratrooping scene? Did they actually flew a dozen of planes and dropped hundreds of men?

    Equilibrium (2002)

Watched this badass flick for the tenth time last night. Never get's old. The story is great and the action is top notch. If you liked The Matrix and Children of Men you'll love it.

    7.7 rating on IMDB.

    I'll give it 8.5.

Just to clarify, a few posts back I mentioned "Battle OF Los Angeles", which I now realise is a different movie to this one. "Battle of Los Angeles" is a complete POS. D/Ling Battle LA now to have a look.

A youtube clip of the para scene suggests: "the jump re-enactment sequence from the blockbuster movie, "A Bridge Too Far" which was done by the active-duty British Parachute Regiment."
In other words, real guys out of real planes. Movie studios had that sort of clout.

The Lost World: Jurassic Park (1997)

A little rush at the start (think the script writers were in a hurry to get on to the island) but overall enjoyable. More dinosaurs and more people, hence more eating (and thrills). Last but not least, T-Rex in town. How cooler can it get? The reviews rated The Lost World lower than the original but I enjoyed the action better than the first one.

    8.0/10

From the guy who did 'city of god'

Beautiful shots in rio not overly violent (which I find increasingly harder to watch)
    Gritty, but not surprising

    8/10
