I'll say new seal.....there take that! Sometimes when we come over the top of a rise or corner, there imediately in front of us is a run of new seal, with no signs up to warn us. Some times it's a road we have traveled before that we know well, but the new seal and no sign gives us no warning and no chance.
How i know this you ask???
Well i ride a certain road out my way and know it well, but on one occasion that i rode it with a mate, they had spread new seal all round a sweeping bend. No road signs to warn us and due to rather dull day it was not easily seen until we were right on it.Now i could explain till i'm blue in the face as to all the conditions involved and still i have no doubt you will come up with some lame answer, but what i will add here is that, we did not crash, more due to good luck than good management. We stopped to reflect on this some 2 k's further on where we could see this corner. Whilst sitting there another 4 bikes came through that corner and only 2 came out of it. They were going slower than us but unfortunately hit the higher mound of seal than we did, just through being unlucky.
One phone call had the Roadies out there next day putting signs out.
It does happen that way believe it or not.

He doesn't ride! Otherwise he would no the perils of new seal and shiny tar and on and on and on etc.
Hey...that last bit sounded just like him!

This is the fucked up bit really isnt it. The thread was about gear. Not who caused the accident, whose fault it was, whether I took any blame. Just the gear. But you and your possy of arse bandits hijak it and turn it into something else. The purpose, I can only assume is self promotion, what else could it be? Do enlighten

Good god! I had another read, and it would appear that you didn't actually say that. Silly old me for making that inference.
It's a good thing I didn't abuse the fuck out of you for something you never actually said, eh?

Just because, in this day and age of liability, warning signs are supposed to be there - doesn't mean they will be...we should never take anything for granted.
However, if a rider does get caught out because there was no warning, suing the contractor and/or local body has been successful in getting damage to bikes paid for, so is always an option.
Do you realise how many holes there could be if people would just take the time to take the dirt out of them?

Interesting to see the shot of the gloves.

I was quite happy without knuckle protectors on mine, reckoning I don't ride that fast anyway and don't wanna look like an oldfart-racerwannabe...

About a year ago I stopped and thought about it and decided I was being a fool if how the gloves looked was more important than not smashing up my hands in an off. Bought both winter and summer pairs that don't look too power-ranger and got on with riding.

Having seen that photo, I wouldn't wear any other type of glove now. Cheers for that.

Yup. They saved my knukles for sure. They would have been a mess without those hard knukles in the gloves. All the armour did a job, elbows, shoulder knees, hip and boots.

there ya go again. Chucking full responsibility onto the unsuspecting rider. It's not about taking a road for granted you nob. It's about the absolute unseen "for granted or not" it is unseen or seen far too late. It happens ya know. You may find that out if ya go ride a bike one day instead of knocking the shit out of ya keyboard.
Tell me, how do you anticipate something that has a brain of it's own (wandering stock) or mother nature so to speak???? Sounds like you expect us all to ride at snails pace every where we go.

Since when did the "relatively new seal" morph into a herd of cows or a bolt of lightning?

Well despite our invitations to Katman to explain what he is hoping to gain and therefore contribute to this thread, he remains silent.
I take it then that Katman is therefore a "simple" sniper that snipes threads relating to biker safety / crashes etc, and he feels he is in no way required to actually say anything of substance to back himself up.

So there ya go, Mr katman = waste of space
