Only because we got all the colonial specials with little engines. The Poms had some great Vivas with quite big engines that went really well...

I still hated our HA thought - blurg....

The HC wagons were a great wee car body wise, they just needed a corolla engine...

I did an amateur job of installing a double bed and cupboards etc in the back - with the proverbial bumper sticker on the back - "If it's rockin', don't bother knockin'"...

It would get to 100kph - just. 110 going downhill.

Six-and-a-half turns on the wheel from lock to lock. In windy weather the straight-line steering corrections were about a half-turn.

No heater installed. We went on our honeymoon in it, in one of the coldest winter spells of the early '80s...

The 2.3 was the bomb! We honeymooned in an HB which went real well! Always wanted to get an HC and put a proper engine in it, but never got around to it.

HMMM...firenza and magnums, could be wrong here but the 1.8, 2.0 were firenza and the 2.3 the magnum.Have been wrong once before though.

I never saw a 2.0lt but lusted after the 1800 Magnum. The 2.3 was the Firenza and I think it was fully imported from the UK. Came in 2 door coupe form with sloping rear roof line and longer boot only too, I think.

A few used to put the 2.0lt and 2.3lt Victor/Bedford motors in HC bodies. The HC was said to have one of the best handling chassis in the world at the time and they certainly went well in the twisties. Never really liked the Chevette which replaced them.

My Mum had one of these and I've only ever seen one since then. Anyone seen one lately? I loved it, but I couldn't keep up with my mate's Mother's Isuzu Bellet...
