Sorry, thought you were referring to the 30. The RC45 was no superbike lemon either though mate. Slighty SHOULD'VE won a couple of titles, and Kocinski won the title in his first crack.

Perosnally I think that the RC45 came a wee bit too late. It was suppose to be a Duke beater, but by the time it came out, the Dukes got faster, so the development was too late. It wasn't till SP1 (RC51) came along before it gave the Dukes a run for their money. But you are absolutely right. The 45 was a hell of a bike and unfortunately it took Kocinski to prove it. Slight should have won on numerous occasions. It just not ment to be for him.

It also rained for more races that season than I've ever seen, and Kocinski was a wet weather master.

TBH, if it's in mint condition, and that is where the market is at, I'd be well keen if I had that sorta spare cash. Mind you I don't think the shouty add helps his case...

Yeah the 30 has a better pedigree in most people's minds than the 45 I reckon just coz it did win those first two World championships.

Slight should have won the title in 1996 but he tossed it away over the back of Phillip Island that year with the title in sight but then lost to his view.

Still wouldn't pay that price for a 30 though.

I'd have an RC30 in a heartbeat over an RC45. Interestingly me mate Paul Taylor had one and came for a couple of rides with us a few years back. Thing overheated like a bitch. The clutch fucked out and it blew smoke when it got hot. Would have given my left nut for it..............

I'm sure I could find space for both of those on my island of motorcycles. Keeping them at 0 miles however would be rather more difficult.

If you've got that sort of money then you'd just get 2 of each.

Personally, that'd be the RC30 I'd hunt down and pay whatever was required to secure it. Assuming, of course, that I had a silly amount of money.

For the record, I think it is unlikely that RC45s will ever be as collectable as RC30s. RC45s could almost be regarded a failure, rather than the game changer the RC30 was.

I agree. I reckon $30k based on the ebay prices etc. This is a customer bike it appears, i.e. no racing provenance or history.

Funnily enough, I was talking to my bank manager today about maybe buying something ex ebay.
